About Festival du Peu

The Festival du Peu is a summer contemporary art event that takes over the hilltop village of Le Broc each year, in the hinterland of Nice. For several weeks in July, about ten artists present their works — painting, sculpture, drawing, video, installation, photography, performance — along an open-air artistic trail through the village's alleys and squares. Free and open to all, the festival blends art, culture, and social connection through guided tours, open-air cinema, concerts, and family workshops.

Contemporary Art in a Hilltop Village

The Festival du Peu is a unique contemporary art event that unfolds each year in the alleys, squares, and public spaces of Le Broc, a hilltop village at an altitude of 500 meters overlooking the Var valley, in the hinterland of Nice. Its poetic name — "du Peu" — reflects a philosophy: doing a lot with little, valuing the essential, creating social connection through art in a rural and authentic setting.

An Open-Air Artistic Trail

The heart of the festival is a contemporary art trail set up in the historic village. About ten artists, selected by the exhibition curator Christine Parasote, take over the location to create in-situ works or present existing pieces in dialogue with the architecture and landscape. The forms of expression are diverse: painting, sculpture, drawing, comics, video, installation, photography, and performance. The trail is open on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from 5:30 PM to 8:30 PM.

A Multidisciplinary and Festive Program

Beyond the exhibition trail, the Festival du Peu offers a multidisciplinary program: guided tours every Saturday at 6 PM starting from the Place de la Fontaine, open-air cinema with picnics, DJ sets, concerts, and creative workshops for families. These events take place in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere, where art naturally blends with village life.

Engaged Themes Each Year

Each edition revolves around a unifying theme that guides the selection of artists and the program. In 2024, the theme "V!vre" (To Live!) explored the relationship with existence and life. In 2025, "Here Begins the Sea" explored the links between the hinterland and the ocean, echoing the United Nations international summit on the ocean (UNOC) hosted in Nice in June. In 2026, the theme "General Rehearsal" explores repetition as an artistic process.

Free and Open to All

The Festival du Peu is an entirely free event, driven by the desire to make contemporary art accessible to as many people as possible. Supported by the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region and the Alpes-Maritimes department, it contributes to the cultural animation of the hinterland and the influence of the village of Le Broc, offering a refreshing alternative to coastal events.
