About Festival du Vigan
The Vigan Festival is a classical music festival organized every summer in the heart of the Cévennes, in the Gard. Without any particular specialization or theme, its program ranges from recitals to large symphonic concerts, and from baroque music to contemporary creations. Concerts take place in Le Vigan, a sub-prefecture of the Gard, as well as in the temples and churches of the villages nestled on the slopes of Mont Aigoual.
The Vigan Festival
For nearly half a century, the Vigan Festival has shone in a region of the Cévennes that has preserved its beauty and authentic culture. A classical music festival, it offers an eclectic program every summer, from intimate recitals to grand symphonic concerts.
Concerts take place in venues of character: the Saint-Pierre church and the temples of Le Vigan, but also the churches and temples of the surrounding communes (Aumessas, Arrigas, Bréau, Saint-Bonnet-de-Salendrinque, Saint-Martial, Valleraugue), the castles of Mareilles, du Castellas and d'Assas, or even the Grotte des Demoiselles in Saint-Bauzille-de-Putois. Most concerts begin at 9:30 PM.
Festival du Vigan — edition 2026
The 50th edition of the Festival du Vigan takes place from July 17 to August 25, 2026, in the heart of the Cévennes, in the Gard. A classical music festival without any particular specialization or theme, it offers a wide range of programming, from recitals to grand symphonic concerts, and from baroque music to contemporary creations, in the sub-prefecture of Gard but also in the temples and churches clinging to the slopes of Mont Aigoual.
Festival du Vigan 2026 — 50th edition
From July 17 to August 25, 2026, the Festival du Vigan celebrates its 50th edition. For nearly half a century, this event has shone in a region of the Cévennes that has preserved its beauty and authentic culture.
Concerts take place in Le Vigan as well as in the surrounding towns and villages (Aumessas, Arrigas, Bréau, Saint-Bonnet-de-Salendrinque, Saint-Martial, Valleraugue, Saint-Bauzille-de-Putois), in exceptional venues: Cévennes churches and temples, Châteaux de Mareilles, du Castellas and d'Assas, Grotte des Demoiselles. Most concerts start at 9:30 PM.

- July 24 — Le Vigan, Saint-Pierre Church: Orchestre de Chambre du Languedoc, cond. Alexandre Benderski — "The Classics of Classical Music"
- July 26 — Saint-Bauzille-de-Putois, Grotte des Demoiselles: Perceval Gilles (violin) & Sébastien Mazoyer (accordion)
- July 29 — Le Vigan, temple: Thierry Escaich (organ)
- August 2 — Arrigas, church: BD Family Quartet with Vincent Beer-Demander (mandolin)
- August 5 — Bréau, temple: Christian-Pierre La Marca (cello)
- August 7 — Valleraugue, temple: Olivier Cesarini (baritone), Lise Nougier (soprano), Elsa Bonnet (piano)
- August 9 — Saint-Bonnet-de-Salendrinque, Château Le Castellas: Quatuor Anches Hantées (clarinets)
- August 11 — Le Vigan, temple: Ensemble Dulci Jubilo (choir)
- August 13 — Le Vigan, Saint-Pierre Church: Vivaldi, Magnificat and Gloria — Chœurs de l'Abbaye de Sylvanès, Orchestre de Chambre de Toulouse
- August 14 (6:00 PM) — Le Vigan, Château d'Assas: lecture by André Peyregne, "The History of the Waltz"
- August 16 — Saint-Martial, church: Saehyun Kim (piano) — Schubert, Chopin
- August 18 — Le Vigan, Château de Mareilles: Romain Leleu (trumpet) and string quintet
