Street arts take over Voiron every summer
The Émotions de Rue festival is a street arts festival organized every summer in Voiron by the MJC of Voiron. Created in 1993, it brings together for about ten days in July artists from France and Europe who take over the city center and the peripheral neighborhoods of Voiron. Street theater, circus, dance, music, performances, and activities for all ages make up a program that blurs the lines between stage and street, offering the public moments of poetry, humor, and emotion in public spaces.
Every summer in Voiron, the MJC de Voiron organizes the Festival Émotions de Rue. Since its creation in 1993, this street arts festival has become a must-attend event of the Voironnais summer. For about ten days in July, it transforms the city into a vast open-air stage, taking over both the city center and the peripheral neighborhoods of Voiron.
Each edition, the festival hosts performing arts companies from all over France and Europe. These artists offer varied and inventive forms of street arts:
The identity of Émotions de Rue lies in its ability to take over public spaces to create unpredictable and joyful encounters. Street arts leave their usual setting to settle in the squares, streets, gardens, and neighborhoods of Voiron. This approach of reaching out to residents, including in neighborhoods far from the city center, is what makes the festival unique and rich.
Supported by the MJC de Voiron (Maison des Jeunes et de la Culture), the festival is part of a movement of popular education and cultural democratization. The MJC mobilizes numerous volunteers each year who actively participate in the organization and smooth running of the festival. This participatory and civic dimension is at the heart of the Émotions de Rue project.
With over 30 editions to its name, the Émotions de Rue festival has built a loyal following among a broad, intergenerational audience. From families with children to performing arts enthusiasts, from local residents to passing visitors, the festival brings together a community of curious and enthusiastic spectators every summer, united by the pleasure of open-air artistic discovery.
The festival seeks volunteers each year to help with organization and audience reception. To join the team, contact the MJC de Voiron.
