DIY, circular economy and eco-responsibility festival in Nancy
The Festival Fais-le Toi-même is a participatory event organized by L'Octroi-Nancy, dedicated to the circular economy, eco-responsibility, low-tech, upcycling, and Do It Yourself. Every May, the Petite Halle of L'Octroi, on boulevard d'Austrasie in Nancy, hosts this two-day festival that encourages DIY and responsible consumption.
The heart of the festival consists of about thirty participatory workshops led by artisans, creators, and enthusiasts. These workshops cover a wide range of practical and creative skills.
The construction workshops teach how to make furniture, decorative items, shelves, or wooden toys. Participants leave with their creations and the skills to reproduce them at home.
Sewing, painting, natural dyeing, and textile customization workshops give a second life to clothes and allow the creation of unique pieces. Upcycling is highlighted, transforming materials destined for waste into useful and aesthetic objects.
The festival offers workshops to learn how to make your own household products and natural cosmetics: laundry detergents, soaps, creams, balms, and deodorants. These workshops raise awareness of ecological and economical alternatives to industrial products.
Cooking workshops introduce homemade recipes, preservation techniques, and tips for reducing food waste.
Admission to the Festival Fais-le Toi-même is free. Workshops are offered at affordable prices, ranging from free to €35 depending on complexity and materials used. Workshop places can be purchased on-site, without prior reservation.
The festival is associated with the Festival Bon Moment organized by L'Autre Canal on the same Austrasie site. Visitors can enjoy food trucks, bars, and concerts in addition to the workshops, creating a complete festive and creative weekend.
