About Festival ICE
Festival ICE — edition 2026
The eleventh edition of the I·C·E festival takes place from Friday, September 11th to Sunday, September 13th, 2026, across Saint-Jean-du-Doigt, Brest, and Plougasnou. The program is structured into three thematic journeys: "Self-Portrait with Visions" on Friday, "Self-Portrait with Farm Animal Sanctuaries" on Saturday at Le Quartz with Patricia Allio, and "Self-Portrait with Missing Memories" on Sunday. Highlights include performances by Ife Day and Camilla Graff Junior, a ceramics exhibition by Réjean Peytavin, the premiere of the film Pierre de Tonnerre, an immersive forest performance, and a concert by Hot Bodies.
2026 Edition: I·C·E Festival XI
From September 11th to 13th, 2026, the eleventh edition of the multidisciplinary I·C·E festival will be held across three towns in Finistère: Saint-Jean-du-Doigt (Maison des Peintres and Salle Kasino), Brest (Le Quartz), and Plougasnou (Café Marylène).
Three "Self-Portrait" Journeys
Friday, September 11th, kicks off the festival in Saint-Jean-du-Doigt with "Self-Portrait with Visions": an exhibition of ceramics and drawings by Réjean Peytavin, a performance by Ife Day, and the premiere of Claude Dugit-Gros Letu's film, attended by Élie Godard.
On Saturday, September 12th, Le Quartz hosts Patricia Allio in Brest for "Self-Portrait with Farm Animal Sanctuaries." She will share a stage of Devenir Refuge, her work-in-progress exploring human-animal connections, joined by co-founders of the Breton anti-speciesist sanctuary Pompoho and Virginia Markus, founder of the Swiss sanctuary Co&xister.
On Sunday, September 13th, "Self-Portrait with Missing Memories" begins in Saint-Jean-du-Doigt with Camilla Graff Junior, a 2019 festival guest, revisiting a performance centered on her diaries lost in a fire. The journey continues into the woods of Plougasnou with the first stage of Forêt, concluding at Café Marylène.
Workshops with Locals
Two workshops are available by reservation from Tuesday, September 8th, to Saturday, September 12th: Vasomancy by Réjean Peytavin, a one-on-one consultation blending hypnosis and visual arts, and a creative writing workshop on diary-keeping led by Camilla Graff Junior.
From ICE to I·C·E
The association explains the change in their name's spelling on their website: "Due to the crimes committed by the American police, we considered changing our name. Ultimately, as a snub to our political enemies, and because we believe in the performative power of inclusive and non-binary language, we chose to keep it while adding the interpunct."

A committed festival for contemporary writings
The ICE Festival (Contemporary Interdisciplinary Writings) is a unique collective adventure that has been unfolding since 2016 in the Pays de Morlaix, in Finistère. Directed by artist Patricia Allio, ICE defines itself as an interdisciplinary laboratory on relational identities, exploring contemporary forms of writing through performing arts, literature, cinema, and visual arts.
An artistic and political approach
At the heart of the ICE project is a strong desire: to put the margins at the center. For ten years, the festival has been working on forms that seek to make minority voices visible - linguistic, political, sexual, and gender - and to create spaces for dialogue and resonance. Each edition is structured around the unifying theme "Self-portrait with", a proposal that invites us to think of identity as a fragile relationship and composition.
A traveling tour in Finistère
The festival unfolds itinerantly between Morlaix (notably at the SEW, the cultural platform installed in the former Tobacco Factory), Brest, and the founding towns of Saint-Jean-du-Doigt and Plougasnou. This location by the sea, in this Finistère described as "the end of the land, at the end of the world", creates a unique setting for these multidisciplinary encounters that bring together residents and international artists.
Memorable editions
The festival celebrated its 10th edition in September 2025, marking a decade of audacity and reinvention. Among the highlights: the 2023 edition "Self-portrait with Matrimoine" which revisited heritages by unearthing fabulous stories and giving voice to forgotten or marginalized figures, particularly invisible female voices. More than 80 artists, writers, and thinkers have participated in the various editions, creating a creative galaxy around the festival's themes.
Support and partners
ICE benefits from the support of the DRAC Bretagne, the Regional Council of Brittany, the Departmental Council of Finistère, as well as the towns of Plougasnou, Saint-Jean-du-Doigt, and Morlaix Communauté, testifying to the strong territorial anchoring of this exceptional cultural project.
