Itinéraires: the cultural event of the Landes libraries

Each year in October, the Itinéraires festival invites the inhabitants of the Landes to (re)discover the cultural riches of their media centers and libraries. Coordinated by the Departmental Library of the Landes in partnership with the entire departmental public reading network, this event brings together dozens of establishments around a common theme renewed each year.

A different theme each year

The principle of Itinéraires is based on an annual theme that guides the entire program. Recent editions have explored various subjects: "Trees" in 2024, "Imagining another society" in 2019, or "History(ies) of laughter" in a previous edition. This common thread allows librarians and media librarians to design coherent and complementary activities across the territory.

Activities for all audiences

The festival offers a rich and diverse program: creative workshops, live performances, storytelling and readings, literary cafés, exhibitions, screenings, author meetings, and youth activities. Each media center in the network designs its own events related to the theme, thus offering a varied program rooted in the local areas.

A unique territorial network

The originality of Itinéraires lies in its territorial anchoring. From the media centers of Saint-Paul-lès-Dax to those of Mont-de-Marsan, from Biscarrosse to Mugron, including the smaller rural towns, the festival reaches the entire department. This traveling dimension promotes access to culture for all, even in areas farthest from major urban centers.

A project supported by the Department of Landes

The festival is part of the public reading policy of the Department of Landes, which supports and assists the libraries and media centers in the territory. The Departmental Library plays a role in coordinating and animating the network, offering resources, training, and support to local teams for the implementation of activities.
