Festival Musick à l'Avance

A contemporary music festival rooted in Gascony

The Festival Musick à l'Avance was born in 2011 in Casteljaloux, a small spa town in the south of Lot-et-Garonne. Driven by the eponymous association composed of 18 passionate members, it has established itself as a major musical event in the Coteaux et Landes de Gascogne region. Under the presidency of Jean-Jacques Dupuy, the association benefits from the support of the Casteljaloux town hall, the 3CLG community of communes, and the Lot-et-Garonne Department.

Two stages for a night of music

Every second Saturday of August, the Parc municipal d'Albret transforms into a place of musical celebration with two stages operating alternately, ensuring continuous programming from 7 p.m. until 3 a.m. The festival showcases contemporary music in all its diversity: alternative rock, post-rock, world music, afrobeat, instrumental electro-techno, and many other sounds.

An eclectic and demanding program

Over the years, the festival has hosted bands with varied universes, offering a rich and surprising musical discovery. The 2025 edition, for example, featured:

• Subotica — French post-rock
• Afro Social Club — psychedelic afrobeat
• Opus Temple — instrumental electro-techno

An exceptional setting on the banks of the Avance

The festival takes place in the Parc municipal d'Albret, a 1.4-hectare green space located along the Avance river, in the heart of Casteljaloux. This tree-lined park, which houses the remains of the castle of the Sires d'Albret, offers a bucolic and shaded setting ideal for enjoying an outdoor summer evening.

Friendliness and festive spirit

Beyond the music, Musick à l'Avance focuses on friendliness. Numerous food trucks offer a variety of food, local artisan exhibitions line the park, and inflatable structures are set up for the delight of the youngest. The association also organizes free concerts throughout the year at the Grand Café de Casteljaloux, as well as spring and autumn festivals.
