Live performances in the open air at the Moulins de Blanlhac
Since 1999, the Festival Nuits de Rêve has transformed the hamlet of Blanlhac, in the commune of Rosières in Haute-Loire, into a magical place dedicated to live performance in the open air every summer. The association Rêve de Foin, founded in 1998 by 33 young graduates from INSA Lyon, took the bold gamble of developing culture in a rural area, by investing an old farm, a barn converted into a rehearsal space, and the outbuildings of the Moulins de Blanlhac.
The festival owes its unique charm to the site of the Moulins de Blanlhac, a set of mills bordering a stream in the heart of the forest, alongside clearings, fields, and dry stone walls. The association Les Amis des Moulins makes this heritage site available and animates it all year round. Performances take place in up to ten different venues: clearings, gardens, barns, undergrowth, and stream banks, offering an immersive and poetic experience.
For five days and four nights, the festival offers a rich and eclectic program mixing theater, music, circus, dance, clowning, puppetry, storytelling, and humor. The afternoons are dedicated to shows for young audiences and families, while the evenings offer productions for all ages. The diversity of artistic forms—from one-man shows to soul concerts, from theatrical walks in the forest to puppet shows—makes each edition rich and varied.
An eco-festival since 2009, Nuits de Rêve is committed to environmental preservation and the valorization of local heritage. The festival actively contributes to the cultural development of Haute-Loire and the influence of the region, having welcomed over 46,000 spectators since its creation and produced and performed 75 shows by the Compagnie Rêve de Foin. The opening evening on Wednesday is traditionally free, a symbol of the accessibility that has driven the project since its origins.
The Festival Nuits de Rêve returns for its 27th edition in July 2026 at the Moulins de Blanlhac in Rosières. For five days, the natural forest site will once again host a whirlwind of live open-air performances, true to the multidisciplinary and family-friendly spirit that has made the festival renowned since 1999.
The full program will be announced in spring 2026 on the festival's official website. As every year, the festival will offer theater, music, circus, dance, clowning, puppetry, storytelling, and humor shows, with afternoons dedicated to young audiences and evenings for everyone. The opening evening on Wednesday will be free.
