Each year, the commune of Bettancourt-la-Ferrée, located near Saint-Dizier in Haute-Marne, hosts the Festival of Comics and Illustrated Books for Youth, a cultural event entirely dedicated to comics and illustrated youth literature. This festive and family-friendly event brings together about twenty authors — scriptwriters, illustrators, and artists — who come to meet the public for signings, exchanges, and passionate meetings around the 9th art and children's books.
The festival offers a varied program, designed for all ages:
Supported by the Romain Rolland media library of Bettancourt-la-Ferrée and the municipality, the festival is part of a commitment to promote reading and cultural democratization in rural areas. By inviting renowned authors and emerging talents, the event offers the inhabitants of Haute-Marne privileged access to contemporary creation in comics and youth literature.
Each edition honors a renowned author or illustrator, whose work is the subject of a dedicated exhibition. Previous editions have notably hosted authors such as Jacques Terpant, whose original plates were exhibited during the festival. This spotlight on a creator allows the public to discover in depth a unique artistic universe.
Admission to the festival is completely free, in line with the organizers' desire to make culture accessible to as many people as possible. Families, schoolchildren, and enthusiasts of all ages are welcome for a day dedicated to creativity, sharing, and discovery.
