Access and Transport

By car: The festival takes place in a meadow between Saint-Amand-sur-Ornain and Tréveray, in the south of the Meuse, about 16 km from Bure and 40 km from Bar-le-Duc. From Bar-le-Duc, take the D116 towards Ligny-en-Barrois then the departmental roads towards Saint-Amand-sur-Ornain. Signage is provided from the main roads on festival days. Free parking is available near the site.

By train: The nearest stations are Ligny-en-Barrois or Bar-le-Duc, served by TER Grand Est. Carpooling is regularly organized from stations and major cities via the festival's social networks and activist carpooling platforms.

Location

The festival is held in a large meadow between Saint-Amand-sur-Ornain and Tréveray, 55270. The open-air site is set up to host performance stages, conference and screening areas, the associative village, workshops, and catering areas.

Accommodation

A free campsite is available for festival-goers directly on the festival site. Bring your tent, sleeping bag, and sleeping mat. Toilets, including dry toilets and solar showers, are available. It is also possible to sleep in your vehicle in the designated parking area.

Food and Drink

Food stalls offer a variety of meals, often organic, local, and vegetarian, at a free or low price. A bar is open throughout the festival with cold and hot drinks. You can also bring your own food and cook at the campsite (stoves allowed, no open fires).

Prices

Access to the festival is free and conscious pricing, to remain accessible to everyone, regardless of financial means. The organizers rely on the generosity and solidarity of participants to finance the event and ensure its sustainability.

Accessibility

As the festival takes place outdoors on grassy terrain, access may be difficult for people with reduced mobility. The organization does its best to facilitate access and can be contacted in advance to discuss possible solutions.

Practical Tips

  • Bring warm clothing for the evenings and sun protection for the day.
  • Bring your reusable tableware (cup, plate, cutlery) to minimize waste.
  • The festival is a welcoming space: respect for everyone and shared spaces.
  • Consider bringing boots or waterproof shoes in case of rain (ground can become muddy).
  • Dogs are allowed provided they are kept on a leash and under the responsibility of their owner.

Les Bure'lesques: Culture, Information, and Resistance in Meuse

Les Bure'lesques is an atypical festival that combines civic engagement, culture, and conviviality. Organized every summer in a large meadow between the towns of Saint-Amand-sur-Ornain and Tréveray, 16 km from Bure, this festival was born from citizen mobilization against the Cigéo project for the disposal of radioactive waste, led by ANDRA.

A Dense and Diverse Program

For three days, Les Bure'lesques offers a rich program combining information, culture, and festivities:

Conferences and Debates

Each edition hosts about ten conferences and round tables on topics related to nuclear energy, energy, ecology, and citizen alternatives. Experts, activists, scientists, and local elected officials share their analyses and experiences.

Cinema

About thirty films and documentaries are screened during the festival, offering a cinematic perspective on contemporary environmental, social, and political issues.

Shows and Concerts

About fifteen live performances (theater, circus, performances) and ten concerts punctuate the three days of the festival, blending artistic commitment and entertainment.

Associative Village and Media Hub

An associative village brings together organizations committed to ecological transition, social justice, and citizen alternatives. A media hub provides information and discussion on local and national issues.

Creative Workshops

Participatory workshops are offered throughout the festival: screen printing, DIY, gardening, writing, cycling, and many other practical and creative activities.

A Committed Rural Territory

Les Bure'lesques is part of a rural territory that refuses to become France's nuclear waste dump. The southern Meuse region, with its landscapes of hills and forests, its human-sized villages, provides the setting for a festival that celebrates rural life and citizen resistance. The event is open to all, in a spirit of sharing and kindness.
