Street arts and live performance in the village of Ménil-la-Horgne
The Festival FMR is a street arts festival held annually in June in Ménil-la-Horgne, a small village in the Meuse region. Created in 2023 by the Collectif FMR, a group of performing arts companies and associations recently settled in the village, this free festival offers a dozen shows and concerts over two days in the barns, streets, and squares of the village. Circus, puppetry, brass bands, theater, and music take over the village in a festive and warm atmosphere, celebrating the roots of these artists in their new territory.
The Festival FMR transforms the small village of Ménil-la-Horgne into an open-air theater every June. Born in 2023 from the initiative of the Collectif FMR, a group of performing arts companies and cultural associations newly established in the commune, this festival celebrates both street art and the roots of these artists in their adopted territory.
For two days, a dozen shows and concerts take over the barns, streets, and squares of the village. The program generously blends performing arts disciplines:
Contemporary circus companies present their creations in reinvented spaces: barns transformed into tents, village squares into circus rings. Acrobatics, juggling, and physical performances surprise and amaze the audience.
Puppet theater finds ideal stages in the nooks and crannies of the village for its intimate and poetic shows, accessible to both young and old.
Brass bands and musical ensembles parade through the streets, bringing rhythm and good cheer to the entire event. Music is omnipresent, from scheduled concerts to open-air improvisations.
Street theater performances are staged in the village's public spaces, using the rural architecture as a natural backdrop and creating a unique proximity between actors and spectators.
The Collectif FMR brings together several local companies and associations who share a common passion for live performance and friendship. Their recent installation in Ménil-la-Horgne is at the heart of the festival's project, which celebrates this new rooting by opening the village gates wide to artists and the public.
Ménil-la-Horgne is a small rural commune in the Meuse region, between Commercy and Void-Vacon. Its traditional Lorraine architecture, stone barns, and shaded squares offer an ideal setting for a street arts festival, far from the urban hustle and bustle.
