Celebration of plant biodiversity in the heart of Quercy
Organized by the association Unis Vert Salviac, the Festival of Rare and Collector Plants is a spring event dedicated to the preservation of plant heritage and botanical diversity. Every year in May, in the heart of the village of Salviac in the Lot, about forty exhibitors - passionate nursery owners, horticulturists, producers, and multipliers - present their collections of rare and collector plants for ornamental gardens and vegetable patches. Entry is free, with catering on site and a plant raffle to benefit the association.
In the heart of Quercy, in the charming village of Salviac (Lot), the Festival of Rare and Collector Plants has established itself as an unmissable event for garden, botany, and nature enthusiasts. Organized by the association Unis Vert Salviac, this spring event brings together about forty carefully selected exhibitors each year: nursery owners, horticulturists, producers, and multipliers recognized for their passion and expertise in the plant world.
The association Unis Vert Salviac, creator of the event, has set itself the mission of preserving plant heritage and diversity. Beyond the annual festival, it works to create a community orchard with volunteers and schools in Salviac, thus contributing to the transmission of horticultural knowledge and the preservation of old and local varieties.
What distinguishes the Salviac Festival of Rare Plants is the quality and diversity of the exhibitors. Around forty carefully selected producers offer an exceptional plant selection covering more than thirty specialties: perennial plants, rare shrubs, old roses, aromatic and medicinal plants, orchids, cacti, climbing plants, old fruit trees, heritage seeds, and many other botanical treasures.
The exhibitors are chosen for their commitment to biodiversity, their responsible cultivation practices, and their ability to advise visitors, whether they are beginner gardeners or seasoned collectors.
The festival takes place in the heart of the village of Salviac, offering a picturesque and authentic setting for this celebration of plants. From 8 am to 6 pm, visitors can stroll among the stands, discover rare and original varieties, exchange with passionate professionals, and leave with exceptional plants to enrich their gardens.
In addition to the exhibition-sale, the Festival of Rare Plants offers several activities:
True to its mission of sharing and transmission, the Festival of Rare and Collector Plants is an entirely free event. Parking is free in the village, and catering is available on site. It is an ideal family outing for all lovers of nature, gardens, and botany, in a bucolic setting in the heart of the Lot.
Located just after the Ice Saints, the date of the festival is ideally chosen to allow visitors to plant their botanical treasures found during this exceptional day without risk of late frosts.
