Petite Marée: Stories for Toddlers

The Petite Marée Festival is a unique event of its kind, entirely dedicated to early childhood. Created by ADAO (Association for the Development of Oral Arts), it is the spring counterpart to the Grande Marée Festival and is specifically aimed at children aged 6 months to 5 years.

A Festival Designed for Toddlers

Every spring, for a week, storytellers from all over France and beyond visit the crèches, RAMs, media libraries, neighborhood halls, and early childhood structures in Brest métropole. They bring tender stories, emotions to share, words to grow with, rhymes to sing together, and worlds to explore.

Adapted Programming

The festival's program is specially designed for the youngest: stories, nursery rhymes, rhymes, finger games, short stories, and surprises are on the agenda. The shows are short (20 to 30 minutes), in small groups, to respect the rhythm and attention span of toddlers. The intimacy of the sessions fosters a special moment between the child, the accompanying adult, and the storyteller.

Territorial Network

The festival unfolds in many locations throughout Brest métropole, allowing families to discover shows close to home. This proximity is at the heart of the project: bringing storytelling to where the children are, in the structures that welcome them daily.

Twenty Years of Stories for Little Ones

In 2025, the Petite Marée Festival celebrated its 20th edition, demonstrating the longevity and success of this event. Twenty years of whispered tales, shared stories, and amazed looks that have accompanied generations of Brest's toddlers in their discovery of the world through words.
