Festival Théâtre à Tout Âge: Excellence in Young Audiences' Performing Arts
The Festival Théâtre à Tout Âge, affectionately nicknamed TÀTÂ, is the flagship event for young audiences' performing arts in Finistère. Every December, it presents a program of about a dozen shows for children, families, and early childhood professionals, in several towns in the department around Quimper.
Très Tôt Théâtre, a Pioneering Organization
The festival is orchestrated by Très Tôt Théâtre, an organization founded in 2000 and now a state-subsidized venue for 'Art, Childhood, Youth'. Based at the Pôle Culturel Max Jacob in Quimper, the Très Tôt Théâtre team works year-round to promote and create shows for young audiences, with a particular focus on the interaction between artists and the public.
A Multidisciplinary and Bold Program
The TÀTÂ program explores all forms of live performance: theater, dance, puppetry, concerts, musical theater, storytelling. Each edition highlights new creations—during the 2025 edition, eleven of the twelve shows presented were new creations. The festival champions a discerning vision of young audiences' performing arts, far from clichés and easy options, by offering inventive, poetic, and sensitive works adapted to each age group, from early childhood to adolescence.
A Traveling Festival in Finistère
TÀTÂ unfolds in several towns in Finistère in partnership with local cultural organizations: the Théâtre de Cornouaille in Quimper, the Arthémuse in Briec, the Athéna in Ergué-Gabéric, the Plogonnec performance hall, and other partner venues. This traveling dimension allows it to reach a large and diverse audience, bringing performances closer to the communities.
Recognized Professional Days
The festival also hosts professional days that bring together programmers, artists, and players from the young audiences' performing arts sector from all over France. Show tours, artist meet-and-greets, round tables, and author breakfasts punctuate these days, making TÀTÂ a major event in the national network of performing arts for young audiences.
