Outdoor nature photography in the streets of Florac
The Festival Photo de Florac presents photographic works on the theme of nature in the streets of Florac-Trois-Rivières, in the heart of the Cévennes National Park. Created in 2019 with the patronage of Alain Bougrain-Dubourg, president of the League for the Protection of Birds, this free outdoor festival exhibits the work of national and international amateur and professional photographers in the public spaces of the town, accessible 24 hours a day for several months.
The Festival Photo de Florac was born in 2019 from a desire to showcase nature photography in an exceptional setting: the streets and squares of Florac-Trois-Rivières, in the heart of the Cévennes National Park. The Florac Festival Photo association offers the discovery of photographic works dedicated to wildlife, flora, and natural landscapes, exhibited outdoors and accessible to all, free of charge and without barriers.
The first edition of the festival benefited from the patronage of Alain Bougrain-Dubourg, president of the League for the Protection of Birds (LPO), highlighting the festival's commitment to raising awareness of nature and biodiversity. This patronage immediately placed the Festival Photo de Florac in a process of valuing natural heritage and fostering dialogue between photographic art and ecology.
The festival's approach is radical: all exhibitions are installed outdoors, in the public spaces of Florac, accessible 24 hours a day for several months. Approximately 25 national and international photographers, both amateur and professional, present their works in 5 exhibition venues spread throughout the town. Visitors have several months to discover the images as they stroll through Florac, making the town itself an open-air gallery.
While the exhibitions are visible for a long period (from June to September in the early editions), the festival organizes a three-day highlight event in September, bringing together photographers, enthusiasts, and the curious for meetings, screenings, guided tours of the exhibitions, and exchanges with the artists. This festive weekend is an opportunity to discover the behind-the-scenes of the images and deepen one's knowledge of nature photography.
After its initial editions in Florac, the festival has evolved by becoming partially nomadic, with exhibitions also presented in Mende, along the quays connecting Notre-Dame bridge to Planche bridge. This expansion demonstrates the association's desire to promote nature photography beyond Florac and reach new audiences throughout the Lozère department.
The festival is driven by the association Florac Festival Photo, whose objective is to promote photography and all forms of images, to support and create an annual photographic festival in Lozère. The association aims to satisfy photography enthusiasts as well as nature lovers, and to awaken everyone's sensitivity to this art. The association's headquarters are located at the Florac town hall, place Louis Dides.
The Festival Photo de Florac 2026 will present outdoor nature photography exhibitions in the streets of Florac-Trois-Rivières, from June to September 2026. Amateur and professional photographers will exhibit their works on the theme of nature in the public spaces of the town, free of charge and with 24/7 access.
Florac-Trois-Rivières is located in the heart of Lozère, in the Cévennes National Park.
The outdoor exhibitions are accessible free of charge and permanently (24/7) in the public spaces of Florac town center. The festival's highlight takes place over a weekend in September with meetings, screenings, and guided tours.
