The great agricultural festival of the Young Farmers of Perche
Each year, the village of Thiron-Gardais, nestled in the heart of the Perche d'Eure-et-Loir, hosts the Agricultural Festival organized by the Young Farmers of the canton. This event, which celebrated its 40th edition in 2025, has become a major event in the rural life of the department, attracting over 7,000 visitors over a weekend.
The Fête Agricole offers a dense and varied program that highlights the know-how of the farming world. The local producers' market brings together about twenty exhibitors offering specialties from the Perche region: cheeses, cured meats, honeys, jams, artisanal breads, and ciders. Visitors can thus discover the gastronomic richness of this preserved terroir.
Demonstrations of agricultural machinery, both old and modern, illustrate the evolution of cultivation techniques. The highlight of the show remains the Moiss'Batt'Cross, a spectacular race of combine harvesters that unleashes the public's enthusiasm. Plowing contests and farm animal presentations complete the agricultural aspect.
The educational mini-farm delights the youngest, who can approach and feed farm animals: cows, sheep, goats, rabbits, and poultry. Fun workshops allow children to discover agricultural professions interactively.
On Saturday evening, the festival takes on an even more festive dimension with a large country meal featuring grilled pork, rillettes, cheese, and dessert. The evening continues with fireworks set off in the Perche countryside, offering a magical spectacle under the stars. A popular ball concludes this memorable evening.
Driven by the dynamism of the Young Farmers of Eure-et-Loir (JA 28), this festival is more than just a festive event. It is a showcase for the young farmers of the department, an opportunity to promote their profession and create a link between the agricultural world and the general public. The volunteers, most of whom are farmers themselves, invest months of work to offer visitors an authentic and warm experience.
Thiron-Gardais, a small town of character in Perche, famous for its medieval abbey and gardens, offers a remarkable heritage setting for this agricultural festival. Visitors can take advantage of their visit to discover the Domaine de l'Abbaye and the picturesque streets of this charming village.
The 41st edition of the Agricultural Festival will be held on September 5 and 6, 2026 in Thiron-Gardais. Following the success of the 2025 anniversary edition, the Young Farmers of Eure-et-Loir promise another festive weekend in the heart of Perche.
The program will include the highlights that make this event so successful: local producers' market, agricultural machinery demonstrations, the spectacular Moiss'Batt'Cross, educational mini-farm, and the traditional Saturday evening country meal followed by fireworks.
