The great traditional festival of Bagnères-de-Luchon, in the department of Haute-Garonne (Occitanie), is the Fête des Fleurs (Flower Festival): one of the oldest flower parades in France, born at the end of the 19th century to enliven the spa season of the « queen of the Pyrenees ». Bagnères-de-Luchon, nicknamed the « queen of the Pyrenees », hosts one of France's oldest traditional festivals every summer: the Fête des Fleurs. Born at the end of the 19th century to enliven the spa season and entertain spa-goers, this event has become an emblematic gathering in Haute-Garonne and the entire Occitanie region.
The heart of the festival is its corso fleuri (flower parade): a procession of floats entirely decorated with fresh flowers that parade on the allées d'Étigny, the city's central artery. The program traditionally combines flower battles, brass bands and 'bandas', folk groups, a luminous fountain, street entertainment, and dances. Three days of free festivities that bring together residents, spa-goers, and visitors from across the region.
The Fête des Fleurs promotes the heritage, floral art, and mountain identity of Bagnères-de-Luchon. Highly popular, it attracts a large public every August: Luchon accommodation is often fully booked several weeks in advance. The event is organized by the Luchon town hall with the help of numerous local associations and partners.
