Chennevières moves in summer and popular festivities on the banks of the Marne
The municipality of Chennevières-sur-Marne, with approximately 18,000 inhabitants in the Val-de-Marne, is a residential town attached to its festive traditions and the conviviality of local life. Located in a pleasant natural setting on the banks of the Marne, the town offers a variety of popular entertainment each summer under the label Chennevières bouge l'été (Chennevières moves in summer). This welcoming program reflects the municipal desire to make the beautiful season a time for sharing, discovery, and collective enjoyment for all residents.
The Fête de Chennevières thus unfolds in a series of complementary events that punctuate the town's summer, offering a new animation each week in July and early August, keeping the summer festive dynamic alive. From shows to sports activities, including gastronomy and cinema, the program caters to all the residents' desires.
The Chennevières bouge l'été program generally runs from early to mid-July, offering a succession of accessible festive events for everyone. Among the highlights of this program are a stage show with regional artists, a friendly Garden Party where residents gather in public gardens in a relaxed atmosphere, outdoor cinema screening popular films after dark in a natural setting, and the traditional firefighters' ball marking the approach of National Day.
The Garden Party is one of the most appreciated moments of the program: in the town's gardens, residents share a moment of summer conviviality with music, entertainment, and food, in the spirit of the great English garden parties reinterpreted in the Chennevières style. The atmosphere is relaxed, family-friendly, and festive, conducive to meetings and exchanges between neighbors.
The recent novelty in Chennevières' summer programming is the introduction of a fun obstacle race, allowing participants to test their physical fitness in a spirit of play and good humor. This sporting and festive event brings together participants of all ages and levels in a friendly and inclusive competition.
Outdoor theater performances and artistic shows complete the program, adding a cultural dimension to these summer days. Local and regional artists take over the town's public spaces for performances that blend humor, poetry, and imagination, accessible to the whole family.
The highlight of the Chennevières festive season is the celebration of National Day on the evening of July 13th, at the Orangerie bandstand. The evening offers a complete program starting with fairground games for children and families, followed by a popular ball with the band YOE, which keeps the residents dancing all evening. At 10 PM, a torchlight procession illuminates the streets in a festive and poetic procession. Starting at 11 PM, the fireworks conclude the evening with a spectacular finale that lights up the Chennevières sky to the great delight of thousands of spectators gathered.
