The Fête à Gentilly: a popular event for 40 years

The Fête à Gentilly is the unmissable event of local life in this town in the Val-de-Marne, located at the gates of Paris. Every summer, it brings together thousands of Gentilly residents for a festive, sporting, and cultural program that spans generations. In 2025, the festival celebrated its 40th edition, marking forty years of conviviality and sharing in the heart of the city.

Organized by the town hall in close collaboration with local associations, the Fête à Gentilly is a living reflection of the associative and human fabric that makes this town so rich. Each year, it provides a unique opportunity for residents to come together, exchange, and celebrate the start of summer in a relaxed and family-friendly atmosphere.

A program for all generations

The festival unfolds over two days around the Stade Géo-André and in the Parc du Coteau. On Saturday, starting at 3 p.m., the stadium transforms into an adventure playground where young and old can test their agility, precision, and balance in fun games and challenges. Small prizes reward the bravest and most skillful. Young children can enjoy activities specially set up near the municipal nursery in Parc Picasso, with adapted games and creative workshops.

On Saturday evening, the festival takes on a musical dimension, coinciding with the *Fête de la Musique*: a large, convivial picnic brings residents together on the stadium lawns, with everyone bringing their own food, in a festive atmosphere punctuated by musical performances. Gentilly's musical diversity is fully expressed during this evening where local artists and cultural associations liven up the night.

The Foulée verte: sport and nature

On Sunday morning, the Foulée verte invites athletes and walkers of all levels to discover Gentilly's natural spaces. Several formats are offered: running, Nordic walking, and a simple family walk, all in a natural and shaded setting in the upper part of the Parc du Coteau. The event is open to all without prior registration, in a spirit of sharing and collective well-being.

The town's sports associations are also present throughout the weekend to introduce their disciplines, offer taster sessions, and welcome new members. Football, athletics, martial arts, gymnastics, and many other activities are represented to allow everyone to find an activity to their liking.

Associations at the heart of the festival

The Fête à Gentilly is also a highlight of local associative life. Dozens of associations set up their information, catering, and activity stands on site. Gentilly's multicultural richness is reflected in the variety of cuisines offered: African, Caribbean, Asian, and French specialties are found side-by-side in an atmosphere of fraternity and sharing.

Exhibitions, artistic workshops, and cultural performances punctuate the festival, offering moments of discovery and creation for all audiences. The festival is entirely free and accessible to everyone, true to the popular and inclusive spirit that has been its DNA for four decades.
