The great festival of water and river heritage on the Eure
The Fête de l'Eau et l'Affluente is a major summer event in Louviers, organized by AONES Canoë Kayak in partnership with the Agglomération Seine-Eure and the city of Louviers. This festive day celebrates the Eure river and its river heritage through water activities (canoe, paddleboard, rowing, dragon boat), guided tours of water-related heritage, open-air concerts, and a thematic village. Open from 10 am to 11 pm, this free event attracts thousands of visitors to the banks of the Eure.
The Fête de l'Eau et l'Affluente is Louviers' big summer event centered around its river, the Eure. This original and family-friendly event transforms the banks of the Eure into a vast space for celebration and discovery, combining water activities, river heritage, and cultural entertainment. Organized by AONES Canoë Kayak in partnership with the Agglomération Seine-Eure and the city of Louviers, this day celebrates the inseparable link between the city and its river.
The program offers a multitude of free water activities for all: canoeing, stand-up paddleboarding, rowing, dragon boating, diving, and outrigger canoeing. These free introductory sessions allow both novices and experienced athletes to enjoy the Eure in a safe environment. The canoe race l'Affluente, a sporty and friendly descent of the river, is the sporting highlight of the day.
The Fête de l'Eau is also an opportunity to rediscover the history of Louviers through its river. Thematic guided tours take visitors on the trail of the Eure, a strategic navigation route since the Middle Ages, a source of energy for the fulling mills of the cloth industry, and later for electricity production. The Société d'Études Diverses de Louviers offers conferences and exhibitions on the historical uses of water and local development linked to the river.
The afternoon and evening are enlivened by three open-air concerts, offering a varied musical program by the water. A thematic village brings together associations, exhibitors, and information stands on the themes of water, the environment, and heritage. The Seine-Eure Tourist Office is present to provide visitors with information on the region's riches.
Nicknamed the "Norman Venice" for its many branches of the Eure that cross the city center, Louviers is intimately linked to its river. The Fête de l'Eau highlights this river identity and contributes to the valorization of this exceptional natural and historical heritage. Food trucks and a refreshment stand are available for food and drinks throughout the day and evening.
The Fête de l'Eau et l'Affluente returns to Louviers at the end of August 2026 for a new festive edition by the Eure river. Water activities, river heritage, concerts, and entertainment from 10 am to 11 pm.
