The popular festival of Lorraine's emblematic fruit in the Trois-Maisons district
The Fête de la Mirabelle in Nancy is organized every year at the end of August by the Commune Libre des Trois-Maisons, with the support of the City of Nancy and neighborhood associations. This popular and festive event celebrates Lorraine's emblematic fruit through street entertainment, plum tart and jam tastings, shows, concerts, and a parade of flower-adorned floats. For nearly 70 years, this festival has brought together the residents of the district and the people of Nancy around conviviality and Lorraine flavors.
Every year at the end of August, the Trois-Maisons district in Nancy transforms into a true festive village to celebrate the mirabelle plum, this small golden fruit that is the pride of all of Lorraine. The Fête de la Mirabelle de Nancy, organized by the Commune Libre des Trois-Maisons, is one of the oldest and most popular events in the district.
Created in the 1950s, the Fête de la Mirabelle perpetuates a tradition of typically Nancy neighborhood festivals. The Commune Libre des Trois-Maisons, a historic festive association, orchestrates the event with the help of numerous neighborhood associations and the support of the City of Nancy. The atmosphere is resolutely popular and intergenerational.
The festive weekend offers a rich and varied program:
The Trois-Maisons neighborhood, one of Nancy's oldest districts, adorns itself in its finest colors for the occasion. The streets are decorated, the terraces are open, and the atmosphere is festive. It's a special moment of social cohesion where neighbors, families, and friends gather in a warm atmosphere.
The star fruit is featured in all its forms: tarts, jams, compotes, sorbets, eau-de-vie, and even mirabelle plum beer. Local producers and artisans present their creations, offering visitors a true gourmet tour of this unique fruit, of which Lorraine produces nearly 70% of the world's harvest.
The Fête de la Mirabelle de Nancy, not to be confused with the Fêtes de la Mirabelle in Metz, is an unmissable summer event for the residents of Grand Nancy. It contributes to the cultural animation and neighborhood life, while promoting an emblematic gastronomic heritage of the region.
70th edition of Nancy's Fête de la Mirabelle. The Trois-Maisons district celebrates Lorraine's emblematic fruit with a parade, tastings, and entertainment.
The festival takes place in the Trois-Maisons district, one of Nancy's oldest suburbs, located north of the historic city center. The district is easily accessible by public transport.
The festival traditionally takes place on the last weekend of August, during the peak mirabelle plum harvest season in Lorraine. Festivities generally begin on Saturday afternoon and continue until Sunday evening.
Access to street entertainment, the flower-adorned float parade, and shows is completely free. Food, mirabelle plum product tastings, and drinks are payable at the various stands.
Numerous food stalls are set up in the district's streets, offering a wide range of specialties: mirabelle plum tarts, jams, compotes, sorbets, mirabelle plum eau-de-vie, and other Lorraine delicacies. Traditional savory dishes (quiche lorraine, tourte, pâté lorrain) and a bar with Toul grey wines and local beers complete the offering.
The program generally includes the parade of flower-adorned floats on Sunday afternoon, the election of the Mirabelle Queen, evening concerts and popular dances, fairground rides and games, as well as a market of local producers.
The district's streets are largely accessible to people with reduced mobility. Entertainment takes place outdoors in the streets and squares of the suburb.
