Equestrian art leaves the arenas

Scènes en Selle is a unique equestrian creation festival in France, born in Lunéville in 2020. Initiated by the City of Lunéville and supported by the association Equiart Concept, this festival shakes up the codes of equestrian shows by bringing horses out of the arenas to bring them closer to the public, in the streets and squares of the city.

For centuries, Lunéville has maintained a special connection with the equestrian world. The Château de Lunéville, nicknamed the "Little Versailles of Lorraine", has historic stables and traditionally hosts equestrian events. Scènes en Selle is part of this tradition while renewing it with a resolutely contemporary and artistic approach.

Hybrid and poetic shows

The programming of Scènes en Selle is distinguished by the diversity and originality of the forms offered:

• Equestrian theater: creations where the horse becomes a full actor, in productions combining theater and horsemanship.
• Dance and acrobatics on horseback: vaulting, artistic dressage, and equestrian choreography.
• Street performances: parades, cavalcades, and performances in the public spaces of Lunéville.
• Hybrid forms: creations combining equestrian arts, puppetry, clowning, music, and circus arts.

The originality of Scènes en Selle lies in its format: the shows are not confined to a single venue but take over the entire city. From the Château de Lunéville to the Place Léopold, including schools, gardens, and the streets of the city center, the festival transforms Lunéville into a true artistic promenade.
