The Fête de la Musique in Créteil: 'Jour de fête', a multifaceted artistic celebration

Every year on June 21st, Créteil celebrates the Fête de la Musique with a strong artistic ambition. The flagship event, named 'Jour de fête', is co-organized by the Créteil town hall and the Maison des Arts et de la Culture de Créteil (MAC), one of the most recognized national stages in Île-de-France. This collaboration between a cultural institution and the local authority gives Créteil's Fête de la Musique an artistic dimension that few suburban towns can offer.

An event that blends dance, music, and popular culture

The concept of 'Jour de fête' is based on a simple and powerful idea: music as a vector of sharing and dance as a universal language. The program combines several artistic universes:

  • A musical parade through the city center, with brass bands, percussion, and instrumental ensembles creating a festive atmosphere in the streets
  • A festive village with stands from associations, food vendors, and cultural information
  • Participatory dance workshops, organized in conjunction with the Centre Chorégraphique National de Créteil et du Val-de-Marne (CCN), allowing the public to learn various dance styles
  • A popular ball to close the evening, hosted by Les Filles de Platines DJs, mixing generations and musical styles

The Marcel Dadi Conservatory Orchestra

Créteil's Fête de la Musique is also an opportunity to highlight local talent. The Marcel Dadi Conservatory in Créteil annually presents a special program that allows students and musical ensembles to perform for a large audience. Choirs, orchestras, chamber ensembles, and student groups take over the city's spaces in a celebration of live and accessible music.

Square Jullien and the outdoor stage

The Fête de la Musique in Créteil also features an open-air concert at Square Jullien, with local and regional bands representing Créteil's musical diversity: rock, hip-hop, jazz, world music, pop, and electro are performed on stage for a festive and friendly evening open to all.

Créteil, a city of art and culture

The prefecture of Val-de-Marne, Créteil is a city of 90,000 inhabitants known for its rich cultural offerings. With the MAC (National Center for Cultural Creation and Diffusion), the Marcel Dadi Conservatory, the Abbaye library, and numerous cultural associations, the city provides an environment conducive to artistic development. The Fête de la Musique is experienced here as a moment of cultural democratization, true to the values that guided the creation of this national event in 1982.
