Fête de la Musique 2026 in Roanne: Two Days of Free Concerts
The 2026 Fête de la Musique in Roanne unfolds over two days, Saturday, June 20th and Sunday, June 21st. The highlight remains the large free concert at the Esplanade des Mariniers, along the Bords de Loire II, but the program extends throughout the city center's squares and plazas, with about fifteen events scattered across the neighborhoods.
Bénabar Headlines Saturday Night
Bénabar, a staple of French music for over twenty-five years, takes the stage at the Esplanade des Mariniers at 9:30 PM. The singer behind Le Dîner will perform tracks from his 11th album, Le Soleil des absents, alongside the hits that have defined his career for generations. The evening kicks off at 7:00 PM with the winners of the Roanne Jeunes Talents singing challenge, followed by Malaka at 7:30 PM and Celkilt at 8:30 PM.
Sound of Legend for the Night
The electro trio Sound of Legend closes the night at 11:00 PM. Known for their modern and energetic reinterpretations of global hits, they will turn the esplanade into a dance floor, keeping the Loire quays buzzing until late.
Celkilt and Malaka: The Sounds of the Loire
Celkilt, a Celtic rock quintet rooted in the Loire region, blends bagpipes, whistles, and electric guitars, drawing on over 800 concerts performed worldwide over the last fifteen years. Malaka, a duo formed by two sisters from Riorges, opens the evening with sensitive folk and luminous soul music with Creole influences.
Music in Every Neighborhood
Starting at 3:00 PM on Saturday, the Latin brass band La Casa Latina will roam the pedestrian streets, while the forecourt of the Saint-Michel chapel, the Maison de la Turne, the Place du Marché, and the bandstand at the Place des Promenades host vocal groups, classical piano, festive music, and DJ sets. Sunday, June 21st, continues the momentum in the afternoon, from the Promenades bandstand to the Roanne port, Varennes park, and the Bords de Loire, featuring classical, reggae dub, rumba, pop-rock, and French variety.
Good to Know
The entire event is free. At the Esplanade des Mariniers, the City of Roanne is installing 3 misting stations and 12 water fountains; reusable water bottles are recommended, but glass and cans are not permitted on site.

The Fête de la Musique in Roanne: An Unmissable Evening
Each year, the Fête de la Musique de Roanne transforms the city into a huge open-air stage. Organized by the City of Roanne, this free musical celebration brings together thousands of Roanne residents and visitors for a festive and friendly evening marking the arrival of summer.
A Grand Free Concert on the Banks of the Loire
The highlight of the evening is the grand free concert on the esplanade des Mariniers, in the heart of the redeveloped Banks of the Loire district. For several years, the City of Roanne has invited a renowned national headliner to entertain this exceptional evening. Among the artists who have graced the Roanne stage: Earth, Wind and Fire (2019), Marc Lavoine and Mosimann (2023), Christophe Willem (2024), Alain Chamfort (2025), and Bénabar (2026). The concert is preceded by performances by the winners of the Roanne Jeunes Talents competition, local and regional bands, and continues late into the night with DJ sets transforming the esplanade into a dance floor.
Music Throughout the City
Before the main concert, music fills the streets and squares of Roanne from the afternoon onwards. Local and amateur artists perform at various locations in the city: the forecourts of the Saint-Étienne church and the Saint-Michel chapel, the pedestrian street, the Market square, the Promenades bandstand, and the Capitainerie. This scattered programming in the city center perpetuates the original spirit of the Fête de la Musique: making music everywhere, for everyone, and by everyone.
An Event Rooted in Roanne's Identity
Historically organized on the Town Hall square, the Fête de la Musique de Roanne has moved to the Banks of the Loire following the redevelopment of the esplanade des Mariniers, offering an exceptional setting by the river. The event regularly attracts more than 15,000 to 23,000 spectators and marks the kickoff of the City of Roanne's Festiv'été program, which continues throughout the summer with the Jeudis Live, Roanne Plage, and numerous summer activities.
