Every June 21, Douai celebrates the Fête de la Musique (Music Festival): amateur musicians and guest artists play for free outdoors, in the squares and streets of the city center. Organized by the City of Douai, the day is entirely free and welcomes all styles — from rock to electro, from folk to rap.
The Fête de la Musique in Douai
As everywhere in France since 1982, the Fête de la Musique transforms the city of Douai into an open-air stage every June 21. On the occasion of the summer solstice, music freely takes over public spaces: several stages are set up in the streets and squares of the center, and many bars and restaurants participate in the celebration until the evening.
