Fête de la Musique in Troyes

Just like everywhere else in France since 1982, the Fête de la Musique turns Troyes into an open-air stage every June 21st. Music takes over public spaces for free from early evening until the small hours, offering a variety of styles for all audiences, all set against the backdrop of the historic center's timber-framed houses. Rock, rap, reggaeton, zouk, French chanson, and techno echo from one square to another, primarily performed by local artists and bands from Troyes and the Aube region.

Two main stages programmed by La Maison du Boulanger

The City of Troyes has tasked La Maison du Boulanger with organizing and managing the two major downtown stages. At Place de l'Hôtel de Ville, the evening is dedicated to dance, featuring three hours of DJ sets by Dove, Hama, and Matt D, Caribbean music from Noldy, and performances by students from the Conservatoire. At Place du Marché, in front of the Halles, the MJC kicks things off from 6:00 PM to 8:30 PM with hip-hop and dance, before making way for live music: jazz from the Pays d'Othe group Jazz en Notes, punk rock from the Troyes-Romilly band Police on TV, and finally, rock covers by Les Pelles à Tarte to close the night. Concerts run from 6:00 PM to midnight.

A festival that spills out across the city

Beyond the municipal stages, several local venues are opening their doors for free. At the Protestant temple, located at 1 quai des Comtes de Champagne, La Guinguette du Temple will host cultural performances by parishioners from 5:00 PM to 10:30 PM, followed by jazz from the group Urban at 7:00 PM and salsa from Cumbila at 8:30 PM, with drinks and snacks available on-site. On Rue Émile Zola, Le Moulin de Pierre is setting up an outdoor stage and a large dancefloor right in the city center: DJ Pixx, DJ Stoltz, and DJ Luke Skyler will spin electro, house, clubbing, and urban beats from 7:00 PM to 1:00 AM, complete with a light show, LED screen, and pyrotechnics. Meanwhile, Le Troyes Fois Plus will host three local and regional bands—Laurofada, Capsis, and Les Initiés—for four hours of pop-rock on the terrace from 7:00 PM to 11:00 PM. Bars, restaurants, and cultural venues throughout the historic center round out the program all evening long.

One of the year's biggest events in Troyes

The evening is one of the city's largest annual gatherings: the Mayor of Troyes estimates that between 30,000 and 40,000 people attend the festivities in the city center on the night of June 21st alone. The logistics are scaled to match the event, with a secure site from 10:00 AM to midnight and the city center becoming pedestrian-only starting at 5:00 PM.
