The Fête de la Nature Val-d'Oise: biodiversity at the heart of the department
The Fête de la Nature in Val-d'Oise is the local version of the Fête de la Nature, the national event organized every end of May by the association Humanité et Biodiversité. Since its creation in 2007, this event has invited millions of people across France each year to discover the wild and ordinary nature that surrounds them.
Val-d'Oise offers a remarkable setting for this celebration of biodiversity. The department benefits from natural spaces of great ecological value:
- The Montmorency Forest (3,000 ha), one of the largest peri-urban forest masses in Île-de-France, rich in ancient chestnut trees and remarkable forest species
- The Vexin Français Regional Natural Park, a vast agricultural and natural area of 71,000 hectares covering a large part of the north and west of the department
- The banks of the Oise, an important ecological corridor along the river
- The wetlands of the valleys and plains
- The limestone slopes hosting rare thermophilic flora
Outdoor outings and activities
The Fête de la Nature in Val-d'Oise offers a range of activities accessible to everyone. Nature outings guided by associations and experts allow participants to discover the plants, birds, insects, and mammals that inhabit the department's natural spaces. Guided walks in the Montmorency forest, in Vexin, or along the Oise are particularly popular with families.
For children
Workshops for children play a central role: making birdhouses, identifying wild plants, discovering insects with a magnifying glass, introduction to nature photography... These fun and educational workshops raise children's awareness of biodiversity and the importance of its preservation.
Institutional partnerships
The Fête de la Nature in Val-d'Oise mobilizes many stakeholders: the Department of Val-d'Oise, the Vexin Français Regional Natural Park, the National Forestry Office, local naturalist associations (LPO, CORIF...), and local authorities. This collective mobilization guarantees a rich and diverse program throughout the territory.
