The 2026 Fête de la Science in Val-d'Oise is part of the 35th edition of this national event, taking place from October 2 to 12, 2026, under the theme "Savory Science." The department is hosting around fifteen free events across Cergy, Louvres, Genainville, Chars, Chérence, Guiry-en-Vexin, Le Perchay, and Saint-Ouen-l'Aumône, including a science village, geological walks in the Vexin, lectures, workshops, and a show about food. On Saturday, October 10, the science village at the Axe Majeur in Cergy will host several of the day's key events.
Val-d'Oise Fête de la Science 2026: "Savory Science"
The 2026 Fête de la Science takes place from October 2 to 12 across France. This 35th edition explores the national theme "Savory Science," highlighting the close links between science, cooking, taste, and nutrition—an opportunity to explore the chemistry of food, the biology of taste, and the challenges of nutrition.
In Val-d'Oise, the event features around fifteen free activities listed on the national website, organized by CY Cergy Paris University, local libraries, an archaeological museum, and local associations: a science village, lab tours, geological walks in the French Vexin, lectures, workshops, and a show about food for young audiences.
The Cergy Science Village at the Axe Majeur will be held on Saturday, October 10, from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM. The Val-d'Oise Archaeological Museum in Guiry-en-Vexin is offering a two-day trail (October 10 and 11) focused on the Genainville paintings, and the Théâtre de l'Imprévu in Saint-Ouen-l'Aumône will host the performance "Feeding Humanity Is a Job" on October 9.

The Fête de la Science Val-d'Oise: explore, be amazed, understand
The Fête de la Science in Val-d'Oise is the departmental version of the Fête de la Science, the major national science popularization event organized every October by the Ministry of Higher Education and Research. For a week, hundreds of actors from education, research, and science outreach open their doors and offer activities to the general public.
Val-d'Oise has a significant scientific and educational network: the University of Cergy-Pontoise (CY Cergy Paris Université), with over 20,000 students, the prestigious schools in the agglomeration (ESSEC, EISTI), and research and innovation centers linked to the industrial sectors present in the department (aeronautics, automotive, digital).
Science Villages
The science villages are the highlights of the Fête de la Science in Val-d'Oise. Organized in large halls or public spaces, they bring together dozens of stands offering interactive experiments, demonstrations, and scientific activities for all ages. Children can discover physics, chemistry, biology, astronomy, and new technologies in an atmosphere of play and discovery.
