Garden Festival at Parc du Grand Veneur, a spring nature and horticultural event in Soisy-sur-Seine
The Soisy-sur-Seine Garden Festival is the major nature and horticultural event in this commune of Essonne on the banks of the Seine. Organized every spring by the town at Parc du Grand Veneur, it brings together nurserymen, horticulturists, artisans, producers, and associations over a weekend, all focused on gardens, plants, and sustainable gardening.
Parc du Grand Veneur, a 12-hectare wooded area in the heart of the village, hosts an open-air market with exhibition aisles, free entertainment for all ages, a plant swap area animated by local associations, as well as workshops (gardening, repotting, kokedama, macramé, seed library…). Admission is free all weekend and light refreshments are available on site.
Soisy-sur-Seine is a commune in Essonne (91450) with approximately 7,500 inhabitants, located about forty kilometers south of Paris in the Grand Paris Sud agglomeration, near Corbeil-Essonnes and Évry-Courcouronnes. Bordered by the Seine and crossed by the Sénart forest, the village boasts a rich landscape heritage, of which Parc du Grand Veneur is the jewel: 12 wooded hectares surrounding a romantic late 18th-century château, which serves as the setting each spring for the Garden Festival.
The Garden Festival is organized annually in May by the town of Soisy-sur-Seine, in partnership with several local associations specializing in gardening and the environment (among which Les Jardiniers d'Étiolles et des alentours, present with a games stand and a plant swap stand). The event is part of the municipal policy for promoting nature and green spaces, centered around a key theme (sustainable gardening in 2026), to foster dialogue between plant professionals, environmental associations, and residents.
For two days, the park transforms into a large open-air market. Exhibitors — nurserymen, horticulturists, artisans, producers, and creators — offer plants, flowers, artisanal creations, decorative objects, wellness products, and gastronomic specialties for sale. In parallel, partner associations animate a plant swap area, a seed library, and a program of participatory workshops: workshops for children, flower repotting, shredding demonstrations, kokedama and macramé workshops, a reading corner, and fun activities. Admission is free all weekend and light refreshments are available on site.
Soisy-sur-Seine also enlivens its calendar with other recurring events: the Fête de la Musique around June 21st, the July 13th festivities with fireworks on the eve of the National Holiday, as well as a regular cultural program at the Grand Veneur hall (theater, concerts, conservatory, game festival). The Garden Festival nevertheless remains the most emblematic event of the Soisy spring.
The 16th Soisy-sur-Seine Garden Festival took place on Saturday, May 9 and Sunday, May 10, 2026 at the Parc du Grand Veneur, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., on the theme of sustainable gardening. Nursery owners, horticulturists, artisans, producers, and local associations gathered in the wooded park of the castle for a large open-air horticultural market, accompanied by workshops, demonstrations, and a plant swap area. Free admission and on-site catering.
The 16th edition of the Garden Festival took place on Saturday, May 9 and Sunday, May 10, 2026 at the Parc du Grand Veneur in Soisy-sur-Seine, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. each day. Organized by the City of Soisy-sur-Seine, this edition highlighted sustainable gardening, inviting exhibitors and visitors to rethink their green spaces in harmony with local ecosystems.
For two days, the 12 wooded hectares of the Parc du Grand Veneur, surrounding its romantic 18th-century castle, were transformed into a large open-air market. Exhibitors — nursery owners, horticulturists, artisans, producers, and creators — offered plants, flowers, artisanal creations, decorative objects, wellness products, and gastronomic specialties for sale. Among the artisans present were Koko Bijoux Dentelle (floral creations) and the Jardiniers d'Étiolles et des alentours, loyal partners of the event.
The weekend was punctuated by free activities for all ages: workshops for children, flower repotting, demonstrations of plant shredding, kokedama and macrame workshops, a reading corner, and fun activities. A seed library and a plant swap area, animated by partner associations, allowed amateur gardeners to exchange plants, seeds, and advice, in the collaborative spirit that has characterized this event since its inception.
The 2026 theme, “sustainable gardening”, inspired the entire program: advice on biodiversity, plant reuse, economical water management, composting, and cultivation without chemical inputs. Several environmental associations were present to raise public awareness of these issues, in continuity with previous editions dedicated to nature and ecological horticulture.
Admission was free all weekend. Light refreshments were provided on site by specialized exhibitors, in the family-friendly and relaxed atmosphere that is the signature of the Garden Festival.
Detailed hour-by-hour program not publicly communicated by the organizer — continuous activities throughout both days.
The Garden Festival is held annually on a weekend in May (Saturday and Sunday), from 10 AM to 7 PM on both days.
