Sucy-en-Brie, the festive town of Val-de-Marne
Sucy-en-Brie proudly boasts being a festive town, and reality proves it right. With over 30,000 inhabitants settled in a green setting between the Marne and the Bois de Notre-Dame, the town in Val-de-Marne offers a rich festive and cultural program throughout the year. The Fête de Sucy-en-Brie is actually a series of regular events that punctuate local life and create a strong sense of belonging to a vibrant community attached to its convivial traditions.
The municipality invests in local festive life with a firm conviction: popular events are essential moments for living together. They allow residents to meet outside of their daily lives, celebrate together, discover the town's associations, and maintain the neighborhood and friendship ties that make a community rich.
National Day: Firefighters' Ball and Fireworks
The festive highlight of the summer in Sucy-en-Brie is undoubtedly the National Day on July 14th. The town offers a two-part program, true to a well-established popular tradition. On the evening of July 13th, the firefighters' ball kicks off the festivities from 8 PM, creating a warm and festive atmosphere where residents gather to dance, sing, and celebrate together.
The next day, July 14th, the day continues with daytime activities in the town's public spaces. In the evening, the fireworks display is launched at 10 PM from the Parc du Morbras, in an exceptional natural setting that offers a green backdrop for this pyrotechnic show awaited by the whole town. A torchlight procession precedes the fireworks, creating a luminous and poetic procession that crosses the park's paths on a summer night.
Fête de la Musique
The Fête de la Musique, on June 21st, is another opportunity for Sucy-en-Brie to vibrate to the sound of free open-air concerts. Each year, the town programs an eclectic musical lineup, giving pride of place to local and regional artists. From classical to rock, from Caribbean music to jazz, including pop and soul, the open stages in the town's public spaces host bands that make residents dance and sing until the early hours of the night.
Among the regularly featured artists are rock bands, Caribbean ensembles, and jazz groups that reflect the musical diversity of Sucy's residents. The Fête de la Musique is an opportunity for amateur and professional musicians from the town to perform in front of a large audience in a spirit of sharing and artistic generosity.
End-of-Year Celebrations and Other Events
Autumn and winter are not left out in Sucy-en-Brie's festive programming. In December, the town offers an end-of-year festive program that transforms the town into an enchanted village: Advent calendar with contests and prizes, free circus shows with Cirque Pinder, light displays, and festive gatherings in the neighborhoods. These moments of winter conviviality are highly appreciated by families who find in these events a way to end the year in beauty, surrounded by their neighbors and the town's community warmth.
