The Fête de Yerres: The Impressionist Town Celebrates

Yerres is a commune in Essonne with approximately 30,000 inhabitants, known for its historical connection to the Impressionist painter Gustave Caillebotte, who spent a significant part of his childhood and youth in the family estate there. The Yerres river, which flows through the town, inspired many of the master's canvases. This remarkable cultural identity gives the town a unique festive atmosphere.

Guinguettes at Parc Caillebotte

One of the summer highlights in Yerres is the organization of guinguettes at Parc Caillebotte. This large green park, home to the Caillebotte estate, transforms into a festive space with dancing afternoons, music, and a friendly atmosphere reminiscent of the Impressionist guinguettes painted by 19th-century artists. On August 31, 2025, from 3 PM to 7 PM, a guinguette enlivened the park.

Summer Banks (Bords d'Été)

Summer Banks (Bords d'Été) is a summer event organized by the Val d'Yerres Val de Seine Agglomeration Community, which takes over the parks and banks of the Yerres river. In its recent 5th edition, this free event offers moments of circus, theater, and open-air music, to be shared with family or friends.

Music Day (Fête de la Musique)

Yerres celebrates Music Day (Fête de la Musique) every June 21st with a free musical program in public spaces. Concerts are held in the streets and parks of the town, featuring artists from all backgrounds. Local radio station Radio Sensations regularly broadcasts Yerres' programming.

The CEC — Yerres Theater

Yerres has a high-quality cultural facility: the CEC — Centre de l'Espace Culturel de Yerres. This municipal theater offers a varied season of shows with renowned concerts (Yannick Noah in acoustic on January 22, 2026, Roberto Alagna on February 6, 2026, Celtic Legends on March 18, 2026), musical shows, and cultural events.

The Caillebotte Festival

The town of Yerres also organizes the Caillebotte Festival every summer, which highlights the town's Impressionist heritage around the Caillebotte estate, offering tours, exhibitions, and cultural activities related to the painter's work.

2025 Edition

In 2025, Yerres' festive season included Music Day from June 20th to 22nd, guinguettes at Parc Caillebotte (notably August 31st, 3 PM–7 PM), Summer Banks (5th edition), and the cultural season at the CEC with high-quality concerts. Free admission for municipal events.

2026 Edition

In 2026, Yerres will again offer guinguettes, Music Day, and summer entertainment. The CEC's cultural season continues with high-level concerts. Full program on yerres.fr.
