22nd Fête des Vendanges — Sunday, September 6, 2026

Domaine de Montels opens its vineyards on Sunday, September 6, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 6:30 PM for the 22nd Fête des Vendanges. Admission is free. The estate is located at 1531 chemin de la Tauge, in Albias.

The day is centered around winemaking traditions: old-fashioned harvesting with draft horses, vintage destemmers and manual presses, demonstrations of traditional crafts, and a producers' and artisans' market open all day.

What's new in 2026

The festival features a new visual identity, showcased across three posters: one for the Fête des Vendanges, one for the Vignes Run Color, and one for the Course des Garçons de Café. Three new attractions are debuting this year: a professional tattoo and piercing artist, a ceramics and artisanal creation workshop, and a dedicated space for creators.

The artisans' market is organized by the Pote Créateurs association and brings together around twenty creators from Tarn-et-Garonne. As for dining, the traditional winemaker's meal has been replaced by a gourmet market featuring local producers and food trucks.

The estate is highlighting Rose Theory, its wine-based drink with fruity aromas, as the theme of this year's event. The organizer's dress code: wear pink.

A family estate in Tarn-et-Garonne

Domaine de Montels is located at 1531 chemin de la Tauge, in Albias. Aline Romain took over the vineyard in 1973 as a self-taught winemaker and later passed it on to her sons. Today, the estate is part of the Vignobles Romain group, alongside Mas des Anges in Montauban and Domaine Serre de Bovila in Cahors.

The wines are classified as IGP Coteaux et Terrasses de Montauban. The terroir consists of sandy boulbènes soil on the first alluvial terrace of the Aveyron river. Red wines are produced from Cabernet, Merlot, Tannat, and Gamay; whites from Sauvignon, Sémillon, Chardonnay, Chenin, Petit Manseng, and Colombard; and rosés from Syrah and Gamay.

What to expect at the festival

The festival takes place on the first Sunday of September. Admission is free for the entire day. The event is centered around traditional harvesting and wine-related crafts: draft horses, vintage destemmers, manual presses, cooperage demonstrations, master distillers, barrel rolling, wine-themed games, painting contests, Occitan dancing, and carriage or pony rides.

Cooking lessons are provided by the Tarn-et-Garonne Restaurant Association, and wine tasting classes are led by professional sommeliers. An artisan and farmers' market is open all day, with a gourmet food market available for dining.

Two races through the vines

The Vignes Run Color is a 5km or 10km fun run through the vineyards, featuring colored powder throws and a series of obstacles set up by Mud Adventure. Unlike the rest of the festival, this event requires registration.

The Waiters' Race pits teams of 2 to 4 people from local bars, restaurants, or hotels against each other, navigating a course around the estate while carrying a tray and glasses.

Other events at the estate

Domaine de Montels also hosts an Easter egg hunt on the Saturday before Easter, Wine Notes concerts on Friday or Saturday evenings during the summer, a Primeur evening for new wines, and a Christmas market on the third Sunday of December.
