Nautical festival and fireworks on the largest lake in the Centre-Val de Loire
The Fête du Lac d'Éguzon is an emblematic summer event that takes place every year in July in Éguzon-Chantôme, in the Indre region. For decades, this nautical festival has brought together thousands of visitors around the largest lake in the Centre-Val de Loire region. The day offers sports activities and introductions to water sports for all ages: climbing, paddleboarding, sailing, water skiing, and jet ski taster sessions. The festival concludes with a grand fireworks display over the lake, visible from the three beaches of Chambon, Bonnu, and Fougères.
The Fête du Lac d'Éguzon is one of the oldest and most popular summer events in the Indre department. Created in the 1950s, it celebrates the beauty of Lake Éguzon every summer, a 312-hectare reservoir formed by the dam on the Creuse river, which is the largest body of water in the Centre-Val de Loire region.
Throughout the day, from 10 am to 11 pm, the Fête du Lac offers a rich program of sports and water activities accessible to all ages and all levels. Visitors can try paddleboarding for free, discover climbing on the beach, watch sailing regattas, enjoy jet ski taster sessions, or try baby water skiing. Water sports champions regularly come to perform impressive demonstrations on the lake.
The three municipalities bordering the lake — Éguzon-Chantôme, Cuzion, and Saint-Plantaire — participate in organizing this festive day. The beaches of Chambon, Bonnu, and Fougères each host activities and events, offering visitors the opportunity to enjoy different atmospheres and move from one beach to another throughout the day.
The most anticipated moment of the Fête du Lac is the grand fireworks display held late in the evening over the lake. This pyrotechnic show, whose rockets are reflected on the calm waters of the lake, offers a magical panorama visible from the three beaches. The fireworks are preceded by a concert that sets the mood and brings spectators together on the lake shores to enjoy this magical moment together.
Lake Éguzon, nestled in the Creuse Valley, offers an exceptional natural setting with its turquoise waters bordered by cliffs and forests. The Fête du Lac is an opportunity to discover this remarkable site, certified for the quality of its bathing water, and to enjoy the natural and heritage riches of the Creuse Valley.
The festival takes place on the beaches of Lake Éguzon: Chambon, Bonnu, and Fougères.
