The Fête du Lac: highlight of the summer in Villefort

Every year, on August 15th, the Fête du Lac de Villefort brings together residents and holidaymakers for an unforgettable evening by the water. This popular event, organized by the association Bouge Ton Village, has become a must-attend summer event in Lozère, attracting hundreds of people to the lake shores.

A festive and friendly program

From 6 PM, the festivities begin with an aperitif-game offering many prizes to be won. The catering stands take over with local specialties, grills, and refreshing drinks. The musical atmosphere is provided by a DJ who gets young and old dancing until the long-awaited moment of the evening.

The fireworks, the highlight of the show

At 10:30 PM, a grand fireworks display is launched from the lake banks, jointly offered by the municipalities of Villefort and Pourcharesses. The colorful rockets and fountains reflect in the calm waters of the lake, with Mont Lozère in the background, creating a striking visual spectacle. The fireworks can be seen from the beach, the surrounding trails, and some accommodations nearby.

The Villefort lake, nestled in the heart of the Cévennes at an altitude of 550 meters, offers an idyllic setting for this summer celebration. Surrounded by forests and mountains, this dam lake is a prime spot for swimming, fishing, and water activities throughout the summer. The Fête du Lac is part of a broader program of summer activities in Villefort, including the Festilac (lake Olympics), the firefighters' ball around July 14th, and the night markets on Monday evenings. These events make Villefort a lively and bustling destination during the summer season.
