The oldest wine fair in Alsace

FAV'Ribeau — the Ribeauvillé Wine and Gastronomy Festival — is a premier wine event on the Alsace Wine Route. Organized by the Ribeauvillé Winegrowers' Association, this wine fair claims the title of the oldest wine fair in Alsace, testifying to the centuries-old roots of viticulture in this town at the foot of the three castles of Ribeau Pierre. Every third weekend in July, winemakers, restaurateurs, and visitors gather at the Jardin de Ville and the Salle du Parc for two evenings dedicated to the excellence of Alsatian wines and gastronomy.

Over 200 wines for tasting

The Salle du Parc is the oenological heart of FAV'Ribeau. An impressive selection of over two hundred wines is offered for tasting, representing the best of the Ribeauvillé vineyards and its surroundings. Visitors can discover the seven Alsatian grape varieties—Riesling, Gewurztraminer, Pinot Gris, Muscat, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Noir, and Sylvaner—as well as the prestigious Grands Crus of the terroir: Geisberg, Kirchberg de Ribeauvillé, and Osterberg. Crémants d'Alsace and maceration wines complete this exceptional offering, presented by about eighteen wine estates from the town and surrounding areas.

Food and wine pairings and local gastronomy

Under the large marquee in the Jardin de Ville, restaurateurs from Ribeauvillé and the surrounding area offer carefully crafted food and wine pairings. Seven establishments—restaurants, a cheese shop, a pastry shop, and a distillery—invite visitors to discover the delicate harmonies between dishes and local wines. The specialties range from traditional flammekueches to more refined gastronomic creations, as well as aged cheeses and Alsatian eaux-de-vie.

Masterclasses and oenological initiation

FAV'Ribeau stands out for its educational and oenological dimension. Each edition features a masterclass led by a renowned sommelier. In 2024, Jean-Baptiste Klein, Meilleur Ouvrier de France 2018 and sommelier at La Table d'Olivier Nasti at Le Chambard, led a session titled “Alsace, Land of Reds.” In 2025, Cindy Schirr, sommelier at the Julien Binz restaurant, conducted the masterclass “Hot Vintage vs. Cold Vintage.” These exceptional moments offer enthusiasts an in-depth dive into the world of Alsatian wines.

Music and festive atmosphere

The evenings at FAV'Ribeau are punctuated by concerts and various musical entertainment. Accordionists, swing bands, funk groups, and DJs take turns creating a festive and danceable atmosphere that lasts until one in the morning. Friday is traditionally more intimate with a solo musician, while Saturday ramps up the energy with live bands followed by a DJ set. A funfair and children's games—including an inflatable castle play area—are accessible free of charge in the Jardin de Ville, making FAV'Ribeau a family-friendly event.
