Beer festival, autumn market and local produce in the Sundgau
Every last weekend of September, Ranspach-le-Haut celebrates autumn with its traditional Herbstmarkt. On Saturday evening, the Beer Festival evening enlivens the fire station with regional beers, tarte flambées and music. On Sunday, the autumn market takes over the village streets with producers of wines, fruits, vegetables, cured meats, cheeses and local artisans. Organized by the firefighters and village associations for over thirty years, this friendly event brings together the people of the Sundgau.
The Herbstmarkt of Ranspach-le-Haut is one of the most anticipated events of the back-to-school season in the Sundgau, this region of southern Alsace renowned for its green hills and picturesque villages. For over thirty editions, the firefighters of Ranspach-le-Haut-Knoeringue, with the support of local associations, have organized this festive weekend celebrating local produce, crafts, and Alsatian conviviality.
The weekend kicks off on Saturday evening with the Beer Festival Evening, held at the Ranspach-le-Haut fire station. In a festive and warm atmosphere, guests can enjoy regional beers accompanied by wood-fired tarte flambées and other Alsatian specialties. A DJ or a band provides entertainment for a dancing evening that brings together residents from surrounding villages.
On Sunday, from 9 am to 7 pm, the streets of Ranspach-le-Haut transform into a large market of producers and artisans. Visitors can discover a generous offering of local products: Alsace wines, seasonal fruits and vegetables, cured meats, cheeses, lard, honey, as well as the latest creations from local artisanal businesses specializing in construction, renovation, and decoration. A flea market usually complements the Sunday activities.
The refreshment stands and food stalls, run by village associations, offer traditional dishes throughout Sunday: tarte flambées, grilled sausages, homemade cakes, and local drinks. The Herbstmarkt is above all a moment of sharing and reunion among neighbors, an event that strengthens social bonds and perpetuates the village traditions of the Sundgau.
Located in the Haut-Rhin Sundgau, between Mulhouse and Basel, Ranspach-le-Haut is a peaceful village of about 800 inhabitants. Its Herbstmarkt reflects the vitality of its associations and the residents' attachment to their traditions. The event is part of the autumn festival calendar in the Haut-Rhin, alongside numerous wine festivals and producer markets that mark the grape harvest season.
