The Beau Marché of Toucy: the patronal festival of Palm Saturday

In the heart of Puisaye-Forterre, the town of Toucy (89130) celebrates its patronal festival every year on a festive and popular day: the Beau Marché, organized on Palm Saturday. Considered one of the oldest markets in the Yonne department, this event attracts thousands of visitors from all over the region and beyond.

A rich and varied program

The Beau Marché is organized by Toucy Animations and brings together a varied program that mixes rural tradition, festivities, and conviviality, from 9 am to 6 pm:

Farm animals in Rue du Pâtis

Rue du Pâtis hosts a lively presentation of farm animals every year, organized with local young farmers:

• Horses, goats, and other animals on display
• Stand of the fishermen of Entente Haute Ouanne
• Refreshment stand run by Toucy Animations

Funfair at Place des Frères Genêts

Place des Frères Genêts transforms into a funfair with the Mécaniques Ouannaises in full force:

• Thrill rides for the brave
• Carousels and games for the whole family (roller coaster, ice palace, simulators)
• Rides specifically designed for children (caterpillars, trampolines)
• Games of skill and chance

The Grand Poultry Show

In the multipurpose hall, the traditional poultry show is worth the trip alone with over 200 cages of pigeons, doves, chickens, and other fowl. This show attracts poultry enthusiasts from all over the region.

The Draft Horse Parade

In the afternoon, the patronal festival comes alive with a parade of vintage vehicles and the highlight of the show: the parade of draft horses through the streets of the town center. Percherons, Comtois, and Cobs, adorned for the occasion, parade in an atmosphere of traditional celebration much appreciated by families. Street musical entertainment completes the program with a brass band and various activities for children.

A Free and Friendly Festival

All the events at the Beau Marché de Toucy are completely free for visitors. The festival perpetuates a centuries-old local tradition that is the pride of the town of Toucy and all of Puisaye-Forterre. It is an unmissable family event at the beginning of spring in the Yonne.
