The village festival at the foot of Mont Lozère
Each year, on August 14th and 15th, the village of Bleymard celebrates its votive festival, a traditional patronal festival of Southern France. Nestled at the foot of Mont Lozère, the highest point in Lozère at 1,699 meters above sea level, this mountain commune comes alive for a festive and popular weekend organized by the Comité des Fêtes du Bleymard.
A generous two-day program
August 14th Breakfast
The festival begins in an original way on August 14th from 8 am with a hearty festive breakfast offering frog legs, charcuterie, cheese, and wine (€16 by reservation). This gourmet morning event kicks off the festivities in good spirits.
Sports and musical entertainment
The afternoon of August 14th offers a varied program:
- Pétanque competition in doubles starting at 2 pm
- Open-air concert at 4 pm (The Bouc Mountain in 2025)
- Running races for children at 5 pm and for adults at 5:30 pm
August 15th, a day of celebration
August 15th, the patronal festival day, is marked by fairground attractions, a communal meal in the village square, the grand free raffle with numerous prizes, and various entertainment throughout the day. The evening ball concludes the festivities with music and dancing.
Bleymard, gateway to Mont Lozère
Bleymard is a mountain village located at about 1,070 meters above sea level, on the road leading to the summit of Mont Lozère via the Col de Finiels. This privileged position makes it an ideal starting point for hikers and nature lovers. The village has been part of the new commune of Mont Lozère et Goulet since 2016.
An exceptional mountain setting
Surrounded by beech forests and high-altitude pastures, Bleymard offers a remarkable natural setting. The Mont Lozère ski resort, the Chemin de Stevenson (GR 70), and the Cévennes National Park contribute to the tourist appeal of this preserved territory. The votive festival is an opportunity to discover the warm atmosphere of this mountain village.
