The Fêtes de Moliets-et-Maâ: Landes Festival by the Ocean

Nestled between the Atlantic Ocean and the Huchet stream, the seaside resort of Moliets-et-Maâ is renowned for its fine sandy beaches, its golf course, and its preserved natural setting in the heart of the Landes coast. Every year around August 15th, the village emerges from its summer tranquility for three days of festivities celebrating the Landes way of life in a warm and friendly atmosphere.

Free Concerts and Musical Atmosphere

The musical program of the Fêtes de Moliets-et-Maâ is one of the event's major assets. Free concerts take place in the evenings, offering an eclectic musical journey: pop-folk-rock, pop-rock-hip-hop-reggae, and dance pop-rock from the 80s to today. Aperitif concerts start at 6:30 PM, allowing festival-goers to enjoy a drink with music before dinner. Local and regional artists perform on an outdoor stage in a relaxed atmosphere typical of Landes summer evenings.

The Toro de Fuego: Pyrotechnic Spectacle

The highlight of the festivities is undoubtedly the Toro de Fuego, a spectacular pyrotechnic show that lights up the night of August 15th. This festive tradition from the Southwest features a fire bull, a metal structure adorned with fireworks, which charges into the crowd of laughing and thrilled festival-goers. The Toro de Fuego ignites the night around 11 PM, creating a magical and unforgettable moment that symbolizes the festive spirit of the Landes.

Traditional Games and Entertainment for All

The days of the Moliets festival are marked by various entertainment that appeals to all generations. Free traditional games for children are organized in the morning, followed by magic shows that amaze the youngest. A fair sets up in the village with its attractions and rides. The afternoons are dedicated to sports activities and outdoor games, before the festivities pick up again in the evening.

Festive Meals and Landes Gastronomy

The Moliets festival offers many opportunities to feast on Landes specialties. Grillades are served from noon, featuring duck hearts and lomo with fries or pipérade. The adult menu (around €15) and the children's menu (around €6) allow the whole family to share a convivial meal. Reservations can be made at the Tourist Office. Pastis landais, a brioche cake flavored with orange blossom, is offered for dessert, while the bars serve sangria, craft beers, and local wines.
