The Fêtes de Saint-Geours-de-Maremne: Festival in the Heart of Marensin

Every year in mid-April, the commune of Saint-Geours-de-Maremne, nestled in the Marensin region between the ocean and the Landes forest, celebrates its patronal festivals in a festive and friendly atmosphere. From Friday to Monday, the village comes alive with a rich and varied program that makes its inhabitants proud and attracts visitors from the surrounding areas.

A Program for All Ages

The Festival Committee of Saint-Geours-de-Maremne offers an eclectic program that combines traditions and modern entertainment:

  • Concerts and Musical Evenings: Local and regional bands liven up the evenings in the village square, offering various atmospheres from festive music to traditional bandas.
  • Festive Meals: Large tables bring guests together around Landes specialties, in the tradition of South-Western festive meals.
  • Children's Shows: Clown shows and activities dedicated to the youngest make these festivals an ideal family event.
  • Belote Tournaments: Card game enthusiasts gather for lively games, perpetuating a well-established convivial tradition.
  • Fireworks: The grand finale lights up the sky of Saint-Geours to beautifully conclude the festivities.

A Village Between Ocean and Tradition

Saint-Geours-de-Maremne is a dynamic commune of over 2,500 inhabitants, ideally located halfway between Dax and the Atlantic coast. Its pleasant living environment, between pine forests and green valleys, makes it a privileged place for outdoor festivities. The Place du Prada, in the center of the village, is the heart of the activities, transformed into a true festive agora for the duration of the festival.

Music Festival

In addition to the patronal festivals in April, Saint-Geours-de-Maremne also celebrates the Fête de la Musique (Music Festival) on June 21st with free open-air concerts on the Place du Prada, accompanied by food trucks and a relaxed summer atmosphere.

Exemplary Community Engagement

The Fêtes de Saint-Geours-de-Maremne are the result of the volunteer commitment of the Comité des Fêtes (Festival Committee), a dynamic association that works year-round to prepare these festive events and maintain social connections within the commune.
