The most beautiful Saint-Jean night on the Côte Vermeille

Every June 23rd, Collioure, one of the most beautiful villages on the Côte Vermeille, offers an exceptional setting for the celebration of the Feux de la Saint-Jean (Saint-Jean Bonfires). The night of Sant Joan transforms this Catalan fishing port into a spectacle of lights, fire, and music between the sea and the mountains.

The flame of Canigou arrives in Collioure

In the afternoon, the flame of Canigou is officially received by the Mayor of Collioure on the Place du 18 Juin. The choir Campanar Sardanista sings traditional Catalan songs to welcome this sacred flame, which will be used to light the evening bonfires. Documentary films about the tradition of the Saint-Jean bonfires are screened at the municipal cinema.

A spectacular program

The evening unfolds between the port, the Esplanade Bernadi, and Collioure's two beaches:

• 9:00 PM: Departure from the port towards Esplanade Bernadi with the Cobla Mil·lenària and sardanes
• 10:15 PM: Lighting of the first bonfire on Faubourg beach
• 10:20 PM: Parade of illuminated Catalan boats in the bay
• 10:40 PM: Correfoc on Boramar beach with fire-breathing devils and dragons
• 11:10 PM: Lighting of the second bonfire on Boramar beach
• 11:15 PM: Sardanes with Cobla Mil·lenària

The most magical moment of the evening is undoubtedly the parade of illuminated Catalan boats gliding in the bay of Collioure between the two blazing beaches. The reflections of the flames on the water, the illuminated bell tower in the background, and the sounds of the cobla create a unique and unforgettable atmosphere.
