The young audience festival that has been amazing children and adults since 1989
Created in 1989 by the association Nova Villa, the Méli'Môme Festival is the unmissable spring event for young audiences in Reims. For two weeks, about twenty carefully selected shows — theater, dance, music, puppets, opera — amaze children from early childhood to adolescence. Nomadic in the city, the festival takes over the most beautiful cultural venues in Reims and creates precious links between generations.
Since 1989, the Méli'Môme Festival has swept young and old into a creative whirlwind that makes Reims a capital of performing arts for young audiences. Organized every spring by the Nova Villa association, this festival is a national benchmark in the landscape of performing arts for children and families.
Each edition offers about twenty carefully selected shows, covering all ages from early childhood to adolescence. The festival features theater, dance, music, puppet and object shows, and even opera. Openness to the international is a hallmark of the festival, with creations from many European countries and beyond.
Méli'Môme unfolds in several cultural venues in Reims and its agglomeration: Le Cellier, La Comédie de Reims, l'Atelier de la Comédie, the Manège - Scène nationale and the Cirque de Reims, the Carré Blanc in Tinqueux, the Espace Thierry Meng in Bétheny, and the Maison des Arts Musicaux. This itinerancy throughout the city allows it to reach a large and diverse audience.
The Nova Villa association, created in Reims in 1965, is a key player in the young audience scene in France. Founded on February 20, 1965, under the name FJEP La Neuvillette, the association took the name Nova Villa in 1995. It created the Méli'Môme Festival in 1989, with the support of the City of Reims, to offer children and families an annual highlight of artistic discovery. Nova Villa offers cultural events throughout the year, from kindergarten to high school.
The Méli'Môme festival is much more than a program of shows: it is a space for transmission, sharing, and discovery where children experience live creation. The shows address various themes — love, education, displacement, childhood, hope — with sensitivity and intelligence, opening dialogue between generations.
The 37th edition of the Méli'Môme Festival will be held from March 26 to April 10, 2026. The festival will offer an international program with creations from six countries: Denmark, Switzerland, Czech Republic, Italy, Spain, and Belgium, alongside French productions. Suzanne Duval, author and academic, will be the patron of this edition.
