About Luminiscence

Luminiscence is an immersive 360-degree sound and light show presented inside the Basilica of Saint-Remi in Reims, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Combining video mapping, 3D spatialized music, and a live choir, this approximately 45-minute show retraces a thousand years of the basilica's history, from Clovis to the present day. Produced by LOTCHI and directed by Romain Sarfati, Luminiscence offers a breathtaking celestial odyssey.

Luminiscence: A Celestial Odyssey in the Basilica of Saint-Remi

Luminiscence is an immersive phenomenon that takes over the interior of the Basilica of Saint-Remi in Reims, one of the most beautiful Romanesque buildings in France, a UNESCO World Heritage site. This new kind of show combines 360-degree video mapping, 3D spatialized music, and live choir to plunge the spectator into a total sensory experience.

The Celestial Odyssey

The current production, titled "The Celestial Odyssey", offers a journey through a thousand years of this sacred monument's history, from the baptism of Clovis to the present day. The show features three-dimensional projections, a live choir (on Fridays and Saturdays), and a giant interactive light installation called the Nimbus, a sphere nearly 3 meters in diameter synchronized with the performances.

A Two-Part Experience

The Luminiscence experience is divided into two parts: an immersive walk through the basilica's spaces, followed by the main show of approximately 45 minutes while seated. The projections literally envelop the spectator, transforming the vaults, columns, and walls of the basilica into a total 360-degree screen.

A Project by LOTCHI

Luminiscence is produced by LOTCHI, under the direction of Romain Sarfati, co-founder and general manager. The show was designed in close collaboration with heritage authorities to offer an experience that respects this historic site while providing spectacular and innovative lighting.

Two Performance Formats

The show is offered in two formats: a version with a live choir on Fridays and Saturdays, and a version with recorded spatialized sound on Wednesdays and Thursdays, offering two complementary experiences at different prices.

Luminiscence — edition 2026

ℹ️ 2026 edition confirmed but temporarily suspended. Luminiscence's new creation, "L'Odyssée Céleste" (The Celestial Odyssey), took over the Saint-Remi Basilica in Reims starting April 17, 2026, with performances scheduled until August 22, 2026. Following a roof slippage observed in the nave, the basilica was partially closed at the end of April, and the show was suspended. Emergency work is being carried out from May 26 to June 12, 2026; the City and the organizer anticipate a resumption of sessions by the end of June. Check ticket availability on Fever before traveling.

Luminiscence 2026 "L'Odyssée Céleste"

After a first season that attracted nearly a million spectators, the immersive show Luminiscence returned to the Saint-Remi Basilica in Reims on April 17, 2026 with an entirely new creation titled "L'Odyssée Céleste" (The Celestial Odyssey). Performances were scheduled until August 22, 2026.

This new visual and sound odyssey, lasting approximately 45 minutes, combines 360-degree video mapping, 3D spatialized music, and live musical performances. The journey offers a traverse through several centuries of the monument's history, with a narration accessible to all ages, respecting this UNESCO World Heritage site.

As in the first season, two experiences are offered: a version with recorded spatialized sound during the week, and exceptional evenings with a live choir (Ensemble les âmes parallèles) on weekends.

ℹ️ Temporary Suspension (Spring-Summer 2026)

Following a roof slippage observed in the nave, the Saint-Remi Basilica was partially closed from April 30, 2026, and the show was suspended. Emergency work to stabilize the roof is being carried out from May 26 to June 12, 2026. The City of Reims anticipates a reopening of the monument around the weekend of June 13-14, and the organizer LOTCHI hopes for a resumption of performances by the end of June 2026. Before any travel, it is advisable to check for ticket resale on the Fever platform.
