International Piano Festival and Competition
Since 2009, the Piano à Collioure festival has celebrated the art of piano in the enchanting setting of the "City of Painters". Organized by the association "Les Amis d'Alain Marinaro", in partnership with the City of Collioure, this annual event brings together great performers and young talents united by their passion for the piano.
The centerpiece of the festival, the International Piano Competition, welcomes young pianists under 26 years old from all over the world. The auditions take place over three days at the Cultural Center, followed by the final. The jury is composed of five high-level professionals, chaired by Daniel Tosi, composer and conductor, former director of the Perpignan Conservatory. The laureates receive the Grand Prix Alain Marinaro, named after the festival's founder.
Alongside the competition, the festival offers recitals by renowned pianists in the intimate atmosphere of the Collioure Cultural Center. These evenings allow the public to discover or rediscover the piano repertoire in all its diversity, from classical to contemporary.
The 18th edition of the Piano à Collioure festival takes place from Tuesday, June 30 to Sunday, July 5, 2026. Six days of recitals, flash concerts, and the International Piano Competition at the Collioure Cultural Center, with a jury chaired by Daniel Tosi and composed of Philippe Cassard, Marta Zabaleta, Jan Wachowski, and Paul Lay.
From June 30 to July 5, 2026, the Piano à Collioure festival brings together great piano performers and young international talents for six days in the intimate setting of the Collioure Cultural Center. Organized by the Association des Amis d'Alain Marinaro in partnership with the City of Collioure, this edition offers more than a dozen events combining recitals, free flash concerts, and auditions for the International Piano Competition.
The 2026 International Piano Competition, open to young pianists under 26 from around the world, is chaired by Daniel Tosi, composer and conductor. This year's jury includes Philippe Cassard, Marta Zabaleta, Jan Wachowski, and Paul Lay. Jan Wachowski also composed the contemporary imposed work — a barcarolle specially written for the competition.
Each candidate presents a 30-minute recital including, if possible, a Bach prelude and fugue, a classical or romantic work, a piece composed after 1890, and Jan Wachowski's contemporary barcarolle. The final on Sunday, July 5, offers a choice of the 2nd and 3rd movements of Chopin's Concerto No. 1 in E minor or Mozart's Concerto No. 12 in A major K. 414, accompanied by an instrumental ensemble of nine musicians.
Beyond the competition, several major recitals are scheduled: Philippe Cassard for the opening on June 30, Jan Wachowski and Marta Zabaleta in the evening during the week, and Paul Lay for a jazz recital on Saturday, July 4. The 11:30 AM flash concerts and convivial moments (breakfasts and aperitifs) accompany the public throughout the festival.
