An Angevin Tradition Since 1852

The Foire de la Petite Angevine is one of the oldest events in Maine-et-Loire. Its history dates back to 1852, the year the Société des Courses de Beaupréau was officially registered. As early as 1857, programs announced horse races and foot races, marking the beginning of a festive tradition that has continued for over 170 years in the Mauges region.

Horse Racing and Agricultural Competition

The event takes place over the last two weekends of August at the Hippodrome de la Prée in Beaupréau. The first weekend is dedicated to horse racing, while the second hosts the trade and agricultural fair. The agricultural competition, organized in partnership with the Comice Agricole, showcases the best cattle breeds in the region and rewards the know-how of local breeders. This agricultural dimension deeply anchors the event in the rural identity of the Mauges.

An Angevin Féria

Nicknamed "Féria made in Mauges", the Foire de la Petite Angevine cultivates a festive and popular atmosphere that goes beyond a simple agricultural fair. The program includes musical shows, funfair attractions, convivial large meals where local specialties are enjoyed, and spectacular fireworks. The event attracts thousands of visitors from across the department and beyond.

A Living Heritage of the Mauges

More than just a fair, the Petite Angevine is a symbol of the cultural identity of the Mauges. It perpetuates a centuries-old tradition of encounters between the agricultural world and the general public, in a spirit of conviviality and popular celebration. The Société des Courses de Beaupréau, still organizing the event, ensures that each edition renews the tradition while adapting to contemporary expectations.
