Latin music festival at the foot of the Montrond-les-Bains castle
Forte Latino was born from the desire to make Montrond-les-Bains vibrate to the rhythms of Latin and Caribbean music. The festival takes its name from a play on words between "forte", evoking the medieval fortress that dominates the town, and "latino", referring to the warm sounds of Latin America and the Caribbean. Organized at the foot of the château de Montrond-le-Fort, an emblematic monument of the Forez region listed as a historic monument, the event combines heritage and popular celebration in a unique setting.
Each edition offers a program mixing salsa, bachata, cumbia, merengue, reggaeton, bossa nova, and world music. Bands and artists specializing in Latin music perform outdoors on the castle esplanade, while dance floors allow the public to learn or practice Cuban salsa, bachata, and other Latin dances. Introductory workshops led by dance instructors are offered in the early evening to allow beginners to join the dance floor with confidence.
Forte Latino aims to be a popular and accessible festival, open to all audiences. The warm and friendly atmosphere is fueled by world-cuisine catering, bars offering cocktails and exotic drinks, and a summer guinguette ambiance. The historic setting of the château de Montrond-le-Fort, perched on its basalt hill and overlooking the Forez plain, offers an exceptional panorama to enjoy concerts at sunset. The festival contributes to the summer entertainment of Montrond-les-Bains, a renowned spa town in the Loire.
The 2026 edition of Forte Latino is scheduled for July 4 and 5, 2026 on the esplanade of the Château de Montrond-le-Fort. The festival promises two evenings of open-air Latin music and dances, mixing concerts, dance workshops, and festive events in the historic setting of the Forez fortress.
The program will feature bands and artists specializing in salsa, bachata, cumbia, merengue, and world music. Introductory workshops for Cuban salsa and bachata will be offered in the early evening to allow everyone to fully enjoy the dance floor. Latin-themed catering, cocktail bars, and a summer guinguette atmosphere will complete the program.
The festival takes place at the foot of the château de Montrond-le-Fort, 116 promenade Marguerite d'Albon, 42210 Montrond-les-Bains. The open-air esplanade offers a unique historical setting in the heart of the Forez plain.
