About Franco-American Festival

Created in 2004, the Thiais Franco-American Music Festival celebrates musical exchanges between France and the United States every summer. Jazz, film music, gospel, swing, musicals, and variety shows come together at the Parc de l'Europe's open-air theatre for two evenings of outdoor performances, in a festive and warm atmosphere.

The Thiais Franco-American Music Festival: A Musical Bridge Between Two Continents

Since its creation in 2004, the Franco-American Music Festival has been one of the most anticipated cultural events in Thiais, a commune in Val-de-Marne. Organized by the City of Thiais each year at the end of June, it transforms the Parc de l'Europe's open-air theatre into an open-air stage where music echoing the deep ties between France and the United States resonates.

A Shared History in Music

The festival was born from a reflection on the cultural exchanges that have nourished musical creation on both sides of the Atlantic. Jazz, invented in the United States and enriched in France; gospel and negro spirituals whose African roots crossed the Ocean; film music whose French and American masters dialogued for decades; variety music that borrowed as much from American standards as from French songs — all these musical currents illustrate this shared history.

A Prestigious Program

Over the editions, the festival has welcomed exceptional artists who have illustrated the richness of these exchanges. Julia Migenes, Dee Dee Bridgewater, the Garde Républicaine, les Tambours du Bronx, Michel Legrand, the Golden Gate Quartet, Earth, Wind and Fire — these names testify to the artistic ambition of a festival that does not hesitate to invite the great figures of jazz, soul, and Franco-American song.

This prestigious program, offered at deliberately accessible prices, makes the Franco-American Music Festival a popular event that gathers several thousand spectators from all over Île-de-France each year.

Parc de l'Europe, an Ideal Setting for Musical Nights

The Parc de l'Europe's open-air theatre, located on rue Victor Basch in Thiais, offers an enchanting natural setting for the two evenings of the festival. Its grassy stands and natural acoustics create an intimate atmosphere that fosters communion between artists and their audience during the mild evenings of late June.

A Popular Tradition of Over Twenty Years

In over two decades of existence, the Franco-American Music Festival has become deeply rooted in the cultural life of Thiais and Val-de-Marne. It has become a summer tradition that residents eagerly await, a moment of conviviality and musical sharing where all generations come together.
