Contemporary music festival in Marmande, on the banks of the Garonne
Garorock is a contemporary music festival created in 1997 in Marmande, in Lot-et-Garonne. Held every summer on the Plaine de la Filhole, a site of over 60 hectares on the banks of the Garonne, it offers an eclectic program mixing rock, electro, hip-hop, pop, and world music. Having become one of the essential musical events in the Southwest and Nouvelle-Aquitaine, the festival hosts tens of thousands of festival-goers each year around four stages, a giant campsite, and festive activities.
Born in March 1997 in the old slaughterhouses of Marmande, Garorock has become, over the editions, one of the biggest contemporary music festivals in the Southwest of France. Its name, a playful contraction of "Garonne" and "Rock", also hints at "Beware of the rock". Led by Ludovic Larbodie, passionate about music and his region, the festival was initially a traveling event mixing wine, the Garonne, and rock, before structuring itself into an emblematic event of the French music scene.
After fifteen editions in the city center, Garorock moved to the Plaine de la Filhole, a natural area of over 60 hectares located on the banks of the Garonne, in Marmande. This green and airy site offers an ideal setting for a unique festival experience, with vast spaces, modern infrastructure, and a friendly atmosphere. The Filhole has become the kingdom of "Garorockers" over the years.
Garorock stands out with a rich and diverse program that brings together musical genres:
The festival features four stages on the Filhole site, allowing festival-goers to navigate between musical universes. From the main stage hosting international headliners to more intimate stages dedicated to discoveries, each space offers a unique atmosphere. Activities, artistic installations, and relaxation areas complete the experience to create a true festive village.
The festival campsite is located in a 40-hectare wooded park, adjacent to the festival grounds and a 5-minute walk from Marmande city center. Secure and exclusively for tents, it is equipped with sanitary facilities, showers, breakfast service, a prevention area, and activity zones (petanque, football, climbing wall, chill-out areas). The campsite is included in all passes, including 1-day passes. A tipi village is also available for those who wish to come unprepared.
Garorock actively contributes to the influence of Marmande and Lot-et-Garonne. The festival generates significant economic benefits for the region and is committed to an eco-responsible approach. Raising awareness about prevention and risk reduction is an integral part of the event, with dedicated spaces and partnerships with local associations.
