The Grand Tournament 2026: 20 years of collective equestrian sports

The Federal Equestrian Park of Lamotte-Beuvron hosted from May 15 to 17, 2026 the twentieth edition of the Grand Tournament, organized by the French Equestrian Federation. This anniversary weekend brought together approximately 2,500 riders and 556 teams for the French championships of collective equestrian sports, on seventeen competition fields mobilized simultaneously and supervised by one hundred and seventy competition officials.

Four disciplines in competition

The distribution of entries reflects the respective popularity of the disciplines: 263 teams in horse-ball, 238 in pony-games, 41 in mounted archery, and 14 in paddock polo. A Polynesian horse-ball team traveled more than 15,000 kilometers to reach Sologne.

The finals of the French Horse-Ball Cups

A highlight of the weekend, the finals of the French Women's and Mixed Horse-Ball Cups were held on Saturday, May 16, starting at 7:30 PM. Meurchin won the women's final against Coulazou with a score of 5-4. In the mixed final, Loire-sur-Rhône won 11-7 against Chambly, coached by two exclusively female trainers.

Activities and novelties

On Friday, May 15 at noon, the public was able to challenge twelve riders from the French pony-games team in a fun activity organized on foot in front of the federation's stand. On Saturday, May 16 at noon, a signing session brought together the finalists of the French Horse-Ball Cups. A demonstration of polocrosse, a hybrid sport of Australian origin between polo and lacrosse, was also presented — the discipline will become official FFE in 2027.
