The Crazy Clown Days in Allevard
Grési'clown, or The Crazy Clown Days, is a festival dedicated to the art of clowning that takes place every year in Allevard-les-Bains, in Isère. Organized by the company Le Bateau de Papier, this festive and popular event offers clown shows in the street, under a big top, in theaters, and in unusual locations in the spa town. For four days, professional and amateur artists take over the town to offer moments of laughter, poetry, and tenderness to an audience of all ages.
Grési'clown, officially titled The Crazy Clown Days in Allevard, is a unique event in the Isère cultural landscape. Born from the passion of the company Le Bateau de Papier for the art of clowning, this festival transforms the charming spa town of Allevard-les-Bains into a true playground for red noses and quirky characters every year.
The festival offers an eclectic program mixing street shows, performances under a big top, theater performances at La Pléiade, and interventions in unexpected places like the courtyard of the Saint-Hugues school. Each edition welcomes companies from all over France, offering a complete panorama of contemporary clowning: from burlesque to poetic clowns, from intimate solos to large-scale shows.
The official opening of the festival traditionally takes place on the Place de la Résistance, setting the tone for an event resolutely focused on sharing and conviviality. Many shows are offered free of charge, allowing all audiences to discover or rediscover the art of clowning in a warm and festive atmosphere. Children and adults alike find their joy in this celebration of humor and clownish poetry.
The company Le Bateau de Papier, based in Crolles, is the artistic and organizational driving force behind the festival. Since its creation, it has worked to promote the art of clowning in the Grésivaudan region and beyond, by offering quality shows accessible to all. The Grési'clown festival is the culmination of this effort, offering an exceptional showcase for this popular and universal art form.
